Meta's latest AI model operates completely offline, but your GPU must be capable of keeping pace.

Meta has introduced a new AI model, and for once, the main focus isn't on its capabilities but on its accessibility. Muse Glimmer, which contains approximately 30 billion parameters, is released under an Apache 2.0 license. This means you can download, modify, and build upon the weights available on Hugging Face without needing any permissions. You can run it directly on a graphics card on your own computer, eliminating the need for a server farm or internet connection.

Meta’s Superintelligence Lab developed this smaller, more efficient version by having Muse Spark, a larger model, teach it to operate similarly. Muse Glimmer accepts both text and image inputs but provides responses only in text. It supports more than 100 languages, can retain conversations with a memory capacity of over 131,000 tokens, and its knowledge base is current only until January 4, 2026.

      What are the RAM requirements?

At full precision, Muse Glimmer would require 64GB of video memory, which most users may not have available, especially considering the current high RAM prices associated with AI. Meta addresses this issue using quantization, which compresses the model's numerical data, reducing its memory footprint significantly. This approach brings the language processing down to less than 20GB.

Two variants are offered. K-Quant-Dynamic requires 32GB and maintains nearly all accuracy (losing just 0.2%), while K-Quant-17GB fits into 24GB but has a larger accuracy drop of 1%. For practical usage, this means you need at least an RTX 5090, RTX 4090, RTX 3090, or a Mac with an Apple Silicon Max chip.

      Is it actually fast?

Meta has enhanced the model with an accelerator called DFlash, which allows it to predict multiple tokens simultaneously rather than one by one. On an RTX 5090, this boosts output speeds from 74.9 tokens per second to 233.4, more than triple the speed.

When compared to Google’s Gemma4 and Alibaba’s Qwen3.6, Muse Glimmer excels at planning and executing multi-step tasks but is somewhat slower in direct desktop operations. You can download it now via Hugging Face or LM Studio if you have compatible hardware.

Acer’s new Googlebook may finally solve the issues that have plagued Chromebooks.

The leaked 14-inch device is expected to feature an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 32GB of RAM, and a high-resolution OLED display. Chromebooks have typically been known as budget-friendly, browser-centric laptops. However, Acer’s upcoming Googlebook 14 GP714-91N has appeared in retailer listings and databases, reportedly boasting Intel’s Core Ultra 7 355, as well as up to 32GB of RAM and a 2.8K OLED screen. NotebookCheck has noted connections between the GP714-91N and Acer's Moonstone Googlebook project.

      This isn't your typical Chromebook.

Grok Bot aims to streamline your workload rather than just respond to your queries.

SpaceXAI and Cursor have recently launched Grok Bot, designed to function with AI agents referred to as Bots or "teammates." It is meant to perform real tasks and will only consult you when it is close to completion and requires your input. Grok Bot is currently in beta for Mac, iOS, Windows, and Linux, with Android and enterprise versions on the way.

I reviewed the MelGeek MADE84 Ultra and quickly found myself drawn to this magnetic keyboard.

After experiencing my first Hall Effect keyboard, I’ve left my brown switch keyboard collecting dust. I enjoy mechanical keyboards and spend much of my day writing, often continuing to use the same keyboard for gaming. The way a keyboard feels and sounds is crucial to me, but I often defaulted to an old mechanical keyboard with brown switches, which I thought felt natural. My perspective changed after using the MelGeek MADE84 Ultra V2 for a review.

This keyboard caught my eye immediately with its transparent keycaps, substantial light bar, aluminum frame, and illuminated edges, all clearly marking it as a gaming keyboard. It makes a bold statement, and after two weeks of using it for both work and play, its striking design is just one of its appealing features.
