Leaks related to the iPhone 18 series cases suggest a recognizable design, yet with an increasing thickness.
Recent case leaks indicate a thicker iPhone 18 Pro, meaning your existing cases won't fit the new model.
A new set of leaked protective cases for the iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max has emerged, providing a similar overview to what we saw in prior leaks.
This year, the design of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max remains largely unchanged, maintaining the same unibody aluminum structure with a prominent camera module. This alignment with past trends was anticipated since Apple often retains the same design for at least two years.
So what’s different?
According to the leaked case images shared by MajinBuofficia, the iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to be slightly thicker than its predecessor. While the MacBook Pros are becoming thinner, it appears the Pro iPhones are adding some bulk.
The likely reason for this size increase is the new 48MP variable aperture camera system that Apple is reportedly testing for the Pro models, which necessitates more space, resulting in a thicker device. Additionally, Apple may welcome the change since it means last year’s iPhone cases will not accommodate the new iPhone, making users abandon their old cases.
As stated earlier, this isn't the first time we've encountered this information. Previous leaks concerning the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max hinted at this possibility, and this new set of cases only confirms those expectations.
What’s puzzling about this?
The leaked images also show a case for the standard iPhone 18, which is curious since the base model is not anticipated to launch until spring 2027 under Apple’s rumored staggered release strategy.
Whether Apple has altered its plans or if this is simply a mistake in the leak remains unclear. Regardless, there are no leaked images or design drafts for the iPhone 18 yet, so take that detail with caution.
Regarding the Pro models, alongside the new cameras and increased thickness, you can look forward to a brand-new A20 Pro chipset built on the latest 2nm process technology, various new color options, enhanced satellite connectivity, a smaller Dynamic Island, and more.
I doubt the upgrades will be sufficient to justify an annual upgrade, but Apple has a knack for surprising us, so let's wait until September to form any conclusions.
