X’s Grok AI now overcomes language barriers and allows you to edit photos with easy prompts.
Automated post translation and a new AI-driven photo editor are designed to enhance your experience on X.
Elon Musk's X is advancing its integration of AI into the platform with two new Grok-powered features that aim to assist users in reaching a broader audience and editing images effortlessly.
What's new on X?
The platform has introduced automatic translation for posts globally, enabling users to instantly view content in their chosen language without needing to select the translation option. This function, powered by xAI's Grok models, aims to enhance the global accessibility of posts while making cross-language interactions simpler. Users who desire the original text can still disable translations for specific languages.
We are rolling out auto-translate worldwide to enable posts in any language to gain a global audience on X. The translations, powered by Grok, have seen significant improvements in recent months. In addition to translation, X has launched a new in-app photo editor for iOS. This tool provides users with basic editing capabilities such as drawing, adding text, and applying blur effects to conceal sensitive information, like faces or personal details.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are excited to introduce a brand new Photo Editor in our post composer. It includes much-anticipated features like drawing and text. We have also integrated unique functions specific to X: • Edit with words, powered by Grok • Add a blur to redact sections of the photo… pic.twitter.com/38Zaw8b5jl — Nikita Bier (@nikitabier) April 7, 2026
The editor also leverages AI to assist users in image editing using natural language commands. According to X's product head, Nikita Bier, users can instruct Grok to alter images in specific ways. For instance, they can request Grok to transform a regular photo into a painting style. Currently, this feature is exclusive to X's iOS app, but Android support will be available soon.
What does this mean for users?
By introducing these features, X aims to encourage users to spend more time within the app rather than relying on external tools. Other social media platforms have already implemented similar AI-driven translation features, and X is now entering the arena to make Grok an integral part of users’ creation and engagement on the platform.
The success of this initiative will ultimately depend on its execution. If these tools prove to be genuinely useful and user-friendly, they could enhance the posting and discovery process. Conversely, if they do not resonate with users, they may fade into the background as features that are overlooked, adding complexity without substantially improving the user experience.
