The Aston Martin DBX S is the most powerful SUV in the world, excluding electric models.
Aston Martin has introduced the DBX S, the most powerful non-electrified SUV available today. This latest flagship SUV combines the agility of the DBX 707 with enhancements from the Valhalla supercar's engine, promising a more engaging driving experience through increased power, reduced weight, and a bolder design.
The DBX S upholds Aston Martin's tradition of using the ‘S’ suffix to indicate higher-performance variants of existing models, first seen with the Vanquish S in 2004.
This new model highlights the company's dedication to performance-oriented vehicles, with CEO Adrian Hallmark stating: “The introduction of DBX S not only reinforces our commitment to creating the most thrilling, rewarding, and beautiful cars, it also conveys a strong message about our ambitions for both DBX and the Aston Martin brand.”
Under the hood of the DBX S lies an upgraded 4.0-Litre Twin-Turbo V8 engine, improved with Valhalla-inspired turbo technology, which boosts power by 20PS to 727PS (717bhp), making it 2bhp more powerful than its rival, the Ferrari Purosangue. The 0-62mph time remains at 3.3 seconds, the same as the DBX 707, but Aston Martin claims the 0-124mph time has improved by 0.3 seconds. The top speed remains at 193mph, complemented by a modified exhaust to enhance the V8’s sound.
To reduce weight, options like a carbon fiber roof lower the center of gravity, and the available 23-inch magnesium wheels are a first for the SUV market. Additionally, a lightweight honeycomb grille can be opted for to improve weight distribution. The steering ratio has been made faster by 4 percent for enhanced agility, and the turning circle is nearly half a meter smaller than that of the DBX 707.
Aesthetically, the DBX S boasts a striking black vaned grille, a honeycomb design option, a new splitter and diffuser, and updated side sills. The rear features vertically stacked quad exhausts available in both gloss and matte finishes. Inside, a distinctive ‘S’ theme is evident with a herringbone seat pattern, offered in Alcantara and semi-aniline leather as standard, or fully in semi-aniline leather if preferred.
The DBX S also incorporates Aston Martin’s new infotainment system and offers a premium audio system with an optional Bowers & Wilkins setup.
Orders for the DBX S are currently being accepted, with deliveries anticipated in Q4 2025. Pricing details have not yet been disclosed, but it is presumed to be on the higher end.

As electric crossovers gain immense popularity, SUV-sized electric vehicles remain relatively rare. While Tesla markets the Model X as an SUV, many consider a specific shape and size when defining an SUV, and the Model X doesn’t quite fit that mold. However, true electric SUVs like the Rivian R1S and Kia EV9 are now being introduced.
The Rivian R1S may come from a less recognized, smaller brand, but this could lead to greater agility and innovation from the company. Yet, there's still merit in the reliability of a more established brand.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ SUV undeniably impresses as an outstanding vehicle. Although I’m not personally fond of its exterior design, characterized by a pronounced nose—although improved over the regular EQS—it illustrates that many automakers struggle with grille-less aesthetics. However, the interior dazzles with exquisite finishes, superior build quality, advanced technology, and exceptional comfort.
I spent a week evaluating the EQS 450+ SUV and enjoyed nearly every aspect. It offers ample power upon acceleration, and despite the slightly soft suspension, it feels like driving on a cloud.

Jeep plans to introduce four electric SUVs for North America and Europe by the close of 2025, including at least two models for the U.S., as confirmed on Thursday. While Jeep already offers some plug-in hybrids, these will mark the brand's first fully electric vehicles.
The Jeep Recon will be the first of these models to debut, with production scheduled for 2024 and reservations starting in early 2023. Although it won’t be fully revealed until next year, Jeep has confirmed that the Recon will feature a "one-touch power top," removable doors, and glass, similar to the current Jeep Wrangler. While it won't replace the Wrangler, it draws significant inspiration from the legendary off-roader, as stated by Jim Morrison, head of the Jeep brand in North America, during the presentation of the electrification strategy.
