The Blood of Dawnwalker will not be demanding on your older gaming PC, but your PS5 could face some challenges.
The forthcoming RPG is designed to operate on older GPUs, yet console players are limited to 40fps, even on the PS5 Pro.
The Blood of Dawnwalker, a new dark-fantasy action RPG from Rebel Wolves, is becoming increasingly ambitious. Founded by former CD Projekt Red veterans, the game has already garnered significant attention for its stunning graphics, open-world structure, and gameplay driven by player choices. We now have insights into the hardware requirements necessary for this visual experience.
Your old GPU might actually handle this one
The PC specifications are surprisingly modest. The minimum requirement is only a GTX 1060 or RX 580, paired with 16GB of RAM, while the recommended setup suggests using an RTX 4060, RX 7600 XT, or Intel Arc B580. This is considerably less daunting compared to the GPU demands typical of modern AAA titles.
There’s a caveat, however: these benchmarks assume upscaling at the Balanced setting, utilizing technologies like DLSS, FSR, or XeSS. While this is becoming more common, it's important to keep that in mind when considering those figures. Nevertheless, it's promising that a GTX 1060 or RX 580 meets the game's baseline 1080p/30fps target. Since these GPUs predate the current generation of AI-driven upscaling, the game should have enough leeway for older hardware at native resolutions, provided expectations remain reasonable.
Consoles, on the other hand, are limited to 40fps
Console players will have two modes: Quality targets dynamic 4K at 30fps, while Balanced aims for dynamic 4K at 40fps on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X. Although the PS5 Pro offers improved visual quality, it does not achieve a higher frame-rate target.
A 30fps quality mode isn't particularly surprising for a visually ambitious current-generation RPG; we've seen plenty of similar titles. However, the absence of a 60fps option on the PS5 Pro is disappointing, especially since the more powerful console cannot exceed 40fps. While 40fps is preferable to 30fps, gamers used to 60fps may find this limitation hard to accept.
Nonetheless, The Blood of Dawnwalker is shaping up to be an ambitious RPG alongside other titles that excite us, and the gameplay we've seen appears impressive. Rebel Wolves has significant expertise behind it. If the studio can combine those visuals and systems with effective optimization, this may turn out to be one of those games where the technical compromises become more acceptable once you’re actually playing.

Riot is ceasing development on 2XKO less than a year after its launch.
Riot Games has decided to end active development of 2XKO, its ambitious League of Legends fighting game, by December 2026. This decision follows less than a year since its full launch, as Riot noted a lack of sufficient player retention for the game to maintain a sustainable future. Importantly, 2XKO will not be shut down: its servers will remain operational, and players will still be able to enjoy the game.
