EVgo and Tesla collaborate to introduce 500kW charging in US cities.

Finding a rapid charger for your electric vehicle may soon become simpler. EVgo has announced plans to install hundreds of Tesla V4 Superchargers in major cities across the United States, utilizing a license from Tesla's Supercharger for Business program.

This positions EVgo as one of the first networks in the US to incorporate Tesla's own charging design at its stations, part of a larger expansion initiative that started with a $1.25 billion federal loan aimed at adding 7,500 new charging stalls nationwide.

What does this collaboration offer to electric vehicle drivers?

      EVgo

EVgo will take ownership of these chargers and handle site host interactions, utility connections, and pricing, while Tesla will be responsible for operating and maintaining the hardware itself. Each V4 unit can deliver up to 500kW at 1,000 volts, adding approximately 200 miles of range in around 15 minutes.

The charging stations will feature Magic Dock technology, allowing both NACS and CCS1 vehicles to plug in without an adapter, and longer cables designed to accommodate various charging port locations on vehicles. Since these chargers are officially licensed by Tesla, they will be included in Tesla's in-car navigation system and Trip Planner, as well as in the EVgo app.

EVgo stations equipped with NACS connectors will also be accessible to Tesla drivers who have activated third-party charging station options in their navigation settings. Construction is set to commence this fall, with the first locations anticipated to open in the latter half of 2026.

      Why is this important?

EVgo reports that demand across its network has surged more than 700% over the past three years. With over 3 million Teslas currently on US roads and an additional 35 NACS-compatible models expected by the end of the year, this expansion strategically positions EVgo to meet the increasing demand.

For Tesla, the licensing fees and ongoing revenue from these chargers provide a valuable financial boost as the company faces tighter margins on vehicle sales.

The new Geely E2 undercuts many competitors and showcases the momentum of affordable EVs in China.

This isn’t the first time I've seen European or Chinese car buyers have the opportunity to purchase genuinely affordable EVs. Meanwhile, American consumers continue to hear about higher starting prices and fewer features in entry-level trims. Geely's new compact electric hatchback is priced at 19,490 EUR in Belgium, approximately $22,490, and exemplifies this trend. While the entry-level pricing is temporary, I'm referring to the overall offering from the automaker.

Google Assistant has a shutdown date, and it's approaching quickly.

Google Assistant will begin its shutdown on September 4 as Gemini takes over.

Google Assistant's farewell now has a specific date. Google announced that the voice assistant will start being phased out on eligible mobile devices on September 4, 2026, as stated in an email to users shared publicly on Reddit.

The transition will unfold over several weeks, so Assistant will not disappear from all devices simultaneously. Once the change occurs on an eligible Android device, Gemini will replace Assistant with no option to revert.

Your next boat could finally feel like your car, thanks to a significant navigation upgrade.

If you've used a dedicated marine GPS, you likely know that it often feels outdated. Clunky interfaces, confusing charts, and cumbersome route planning have long plagued the boating experience. However, that is finally changing.

According to a BusinessWire report, Crest and Balise, the two pontoon brands under MasterCraft Boat Holdings, have partnered with the marine navigation app Savvy Navvy to provide a more familiar experience at the helm. Beginning with select 2027 models, boat owners will be able to use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to access Savvy Navvy directly from their boat's display. This will allow boaters to view maps, routes, and trip information from the same infotainment screen they already use, eliminating the need to switch between separate navigation devices and phones.
