The RX 9050 is available in a 4GB variant for system integrators.
AMD has introduced the Radeon RX 9050, an entry-level RDNA 4 graphics card designed for 1080p gaming. The retail model features 8GB of GDDR6 memory and is expected to start at $279, although it is currently limited to the Asia-Pacific, Japan, and Latin America regions.
With 16 compute units and 1,024 stream processors, this card has a board power of 92W. AMD claims it can deliver 96 fps in Cyberpunk 2077 and 131 fps in Forza Horizon 6 at 1080p with medium settings. Additionally, a less attractive 4GB model is being offered for prebuilt gaming systems.
The state of budget PC gaming is concerning.
An AMD representative informed PCWorld that the 4GB RX 9050 is exclusively a system model and will not be sold individually. Its memory interface has been reduced from 128-bit in the 8GB version to 64-bit, resulting in a halved bandwidth. One prebuilt option available at Best Buy for $889 bundles it with a Ryzen 5 5500, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 500GB SSD, which is about what one can expect in this price segment today.
The RX 9050 marks AMD's first 4GB desktop graphics card since the Radeon RX 6400 was released in 2022. As many new titles now list 8GB of VRAM as a minimum requirement, the reintroduction of a 4GB card presents a grim outlook. It may perform adequately for esports titles and older games, but demanding new releases will likely necessitate lower texture settings and increased upscaling. Overall, this card seems to be an effort to sustain the dwindling entry-level prebuilt market.
Is the RX 9050 8GB worth its price?
At a reported price of $279, the RX 9050 is only $20 less than the original MSRP of the RX 9060 XT 8GB, despite having only half the compute units and stream processors. Independent tests show the RX 9060 XT achieves around 100 fps in Cyberpunk 2077 and more than 90 fps in Forza Horizon 6 at 1080p on ultra settings, and it also supports 1440p gaming. While the tests cannot be directly compared, paying a bit extra appears justifiable.
However, the question is whether your budget permits this. Finding the RX 9060 XT for $299 is nearly impossible, as the least expensive models begin around $360 and some approach $450. Therefore, buyers are looking at a price difference of at least $80.
One thing is evident: the longer you delay, the more costly PC hardware may become. The demand for AI servers is increasing, with companies focusing more on AI hardware, and Nvidia is reportedly planning to increase GPU package prices by as much as 30%. The RX 9050 might still be one of the more affordable options for 1080p gaming, but only if it indeed launches at $279.

Your GTA 6 “physical copy” could expire before you even have a chance to play it.
Rockstar has confirmed that download codes for Japanese PS5 copies of Grand Theft Auto VI will not remain valid indefinitely.
The discussion surrounding GTA 6's "physical" edition has taken another turn. Rockstar has announced on its official website that PS5 download codes included with physical copies of Grand Theft Auto VI sold in Japan will expire 170 days after the game's launch on November 19, 2026. This means that players who do not activate the code by approximately May 8, 2027, may end up with nothing but an empty game box, despite having bought a physical edition. The company states that this policy is necessary due to regional laws in Japan.
Why only Japan?
God of War Laufey finally has a release date, and there’s good news for Kratos fans as well.
Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that the game will be released on February 16, 2027, and has revealed that a new mainline Kratos title is already in development.
Sony gave fans their first glimpse of God of War Laufey during June's PlayStation State of Play, but no release date was provided at that time. Following that, speculation about the launch timeframe quickly arose, with industry insider NateTheHate suggesting a release in early 2027. Santa Monica Studio has now put an end to the speculation, confirming that the game will indeed come out on February 16, 2027.
Physical copies are secured.
