Users can direct Gemini to focus on a specific reviewer or group feedback based on recurring themes. It can also highlight unresolved inquiries hidden in various sections, allowing editors to avoid reopening every discussion thread to reconstruct conversations they have already managed.
The outcome resembles an editorial briefing rather than a final judgment. It clarifies the status of discussions and provides the individual editing the document with a manageable starting point without determining which reviewer has the final say.
**What occurs after the summary**
From that point, Gemini can draft a reply within a comment thread or suggest a change inspired by the feedback. If a response requires supporting material, it can locate a relevant Drive file and include the link.
The AI can evaluate a document and leave its comments regarding clarity or narrative coherence. This positions Gemini in the realm of copy-editing, but it won't implement its suggestions without user approval. Users must approve all proposed changes.
**Who is eligible to use it**
The tools began to roll out on July 28 and may take as long as 15 days to become available. Eligibility requires a paid Workspace, Education, or Google AI plan. Additionally, Gemini for Workspace and smart features must be activated.
Gemini needs edit access to interact with a document's comments. Viewers and commenters will not have AI shortcuts through the discussion, even if they contributed to the confusion. If the feature hasn't yet appeared, review the settings and allow the rollout period to complete.
