Gemini is entering Google Play, and it will be closely observing your spending patterns.
Google Pay is offering Gemini a glimpse into your financial activity.
Reviewing your transaction history on Google Pay can provide insights into your spending, but sifting through a lengthy list of merchants and transactions can be cumbersome. This seems to be something Google recognizes, as it is integrating Gemini into Google Pay.
The company has launched Ask Google Pay, a voluntary conversational AI feature embedded within its payment app in India. Users can inquire about their spending habits, receive savings advice, and learn about financial topics. It will even provide personalized offers based on user activity.
For instance, you could ask what your primary spending areas were last month, or seek clarification on your credit score.

Gemini can analyze your transaction records.
Ask Google Pay utilizes data from your Google Pay transaction history and credit reports to generate personalized responses. It accepts questions via text or voice and currently supports ten Indian languages. Google mentions that the experience can also suggest tailored offers, such as identifying the right credit card for travel expenses. This essentially fuses spending analysis with AI-driven financial education.
However, it’s unclear how the company plans to manage these "financial recommendations." Ask Google Pay is marketed as a learning tool rather than a source of financial guidance. It also clarifies that participation is optional and that users maintain control over their financial information. This feature is being rolled out in India starting today.

Google Pay is also unveiling another credit card option for India.
In addition, Google is expanding its Flex digital credit card service through a new collaboration with SBI Card. Flex was initially introduced with Axis Bank in December 2025. Now, the Google Pay Flex SBI Card can be requested through the app without the need for physical documents.
In India, Google Pay started as a quick platform for money transfers and UPI code scans. With Gemini analyzing expenditures and managing credit cards within the app, Google aims to play a significantly greater role in how Indians comprehend, borrow, and spend their finances.
