If the term “future-proof desktop” refers to never having to worry about insufficient RAM again, Lenovo may have created the ultimate device. The company is getting ready to release its new ThinkCentre X workstation desktop in the US, following its availability in several international markets. Designed for AI tasks, professional content creation, and demanding enterprise applications, this desktop can be customized with up to 256GB of DDR5 memory, the latest Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, and support for dual GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GPUs.
A workstation designed for demanding workloads
The ThinkCentre X is not targeting gamers in search of a new gaming machine. Instead, Lenovo markets it as a high-performance workstation tailored for developers, engineers, AI researchers, and creative professionals who require significant CPU, GPU, and memory resources.

The tower accommodates up to 256GB of DDR5-6400 CUDIMM memory, or 128GB of DDR5-5600 UDIMM, along with Intel Core Ultra 9 processors. Its storage capabilities are equally remarkable, with the capacity to reach 14TB using a combination of PCIe SSDs and 3.5-inch hard drives. Connectivity options include Thunderbolt 4, dual Ethernet ports, Wi-Fi 7, numerous USB ports, and ample PCIe expansion for future upgrades.
One of the most striking features is the GPU support. Buyers can choose dual NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB graphics cards, while higher-end versions also accommodate a single GeForce RTX 5090. Lenovo is additionally offering its optional AI Fusion Card, highlighting the desktop's AI-oriented intentions.
The pricing is where it gets interesting
Naturally, such high-end hardware comes at a steep price. Although Lenovo hasn’t disclosed US pricing yet, the desktop has already been launched in the UK, providing potential customers with an idea of the expected cost. The base model starts at around £2,530 (approximately $3,370), while a fully equipped version featuring a Core Ultra 9 285 vPro, 256GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 1,200W power supply, and an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is priced at an astonishing £10,480, or about $13,960.
This firmly places it in workstation territory, where reliability, expandability, and certified hardware take precedence over gaming frame rates. Nonetheless, a desktop priced near the $14,000 mark is sure to attract attention. US pricing is expected to be revealed once Lenovo officially begins sales; however, if the UK prices are anything to go by, this is a machine designed for businesses with equally substantial budgets.
