Sega's Virtua Fighter Crossroads is set to launch on Nvidia's exciting new RTX Spark PCs.
Virtua Fighter Crossroads will serve as a notable demonstration of gaming on Nvidia’s newly introduced RTX Spark platform.
Nvidia has secured one of its first significant titles for the RTX Spark platform, with Sega announcing that Virtua Fighter Crossroads will be compatible with RTX Spark-enabled laptops and compact desktop systems upon its release in 2027. Additionally, more titles from Sega are anticipated to be accessible on the platform, although specifics have yet to be disclosed.
This announcement also highlights over 30 years of partnership between Nvidia and Sega, a collaboration that began with the launch of Nvidia’s NV1 graphics chip, which brought the original Virtua Fighter to the PC. Sega played a crucial role in supporting Nvidia during its early struggles by converting a $5 million payment into investment funds when Nvidia faced financial difficulties.
What is RTX Spark?
RTX Spark is Nvidia’s latest chip designed for slim Windows laptops and compact desktops, unveiled at Computex 2026. It features a 20-core Grace CPU, a Blackwell RTX GPU that can accommodate up to 6,144 CUDA cores, and offers as much as 128GB of unified memory.
Primarily designed for agents of AI and creative applications, RTX Spark was also demonstrated at Computex as capable of gaming. The integrated GPU is expected to perform similarly to a laptop RTX 5070 and supports technologies such as ray tracing, DLSS, Reflex, and G-Sync. However, practical performance remains to be evaluated, as consumer RTX Spark systems have yet to launch.
Virtua Fighter Crossroads is poised to be an effective early demonstration. Fighting games require stable frame rates, minimal input lag, and consistent frame pacing, meaning RTX Spark must achieve performance beyond merely impressive specifications.
Will the game run natively?
RTX Spark employs an Arm-based processor, while most Windows games are still designed for x86 architecture. Nvidia and Sega have not clarified whether Virtua Fighter Crossroads will offer a native Arm64 version or depend on Windows’ translation layer.
A native release could provide superior performance and lower latency, which is crucial for a fighting game. Until additional insights are provided by Nvidia or Sega, it remains uncertain how effectively Crossroads will showcase gaming on RTX Spark. The inaugural RTX Spark systems are projected to be available this fall from manufacturers including Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, and MSI.
