Virtua Fighter Crossroads will highlight gaming on Nvidia’s newly introduced RTX Spark platform.
Nvidia’s RTX Spark platform has secured one of its initial major titles. Sega announced that Virtua Fighter Crossroads will be compatible with RTX Spark-enabled laptops and small desktop PCs when it launches in 2027. More Sega games are also set to join the platform, though specifics have yet to be revealed by either company.
This announcement celebrates over 30 years of partnership between Nvidia and Sega, which began when Nvidia’s NV1 graphics chip contributed to the original Virtua Fighter's PC release. Sega later played a crucial role in supporting Nvidia during its early, financially unstable days by transforming a $5 million payment into an investment.
What is RTX Spark, exactly?
RTX Spark represents Nvidia’s latest chip designed for slim Windows laptops and compact desktop computers, which was introduced at Computex 2026. It integrates a 20-core Grace CPU, a Blackwell RTX GPU with up to 6,144 CUDA cores, and offers as much as 128GB of unified memory.
Primarily developed for agentic AI and creative applications, RTX Spark has also demonstrated its gaming capabilities at Computex. Its integrated GPU is anticipated to perform similarly to a laptop RTX 5070 and supports features like ray tracing, DLSS, Reflex, and G-Sync. It remains to be seen how well it performs in reality, as RTX Spark systems have yet to be available for purchase.
Virtua Fighter Crossroads should serve as a beneficial early demonstration. Fighting games rely on stable frame rates, minimal input lag, and consistent frame pacing, so RTX Spark will need to provide more than just appealing specifications on paper.
Will the game run natively?
RTX Spark employs an Arm-based processor, while most Windows games are traditionally designed for x86 architecture. Nvidia and Sega have not clarified whether Virtua Fighter Crossroads will be released as a native Arm64 version or use Windows’ translation layer.
A native version would likely enhance performance and reduce latency, both of which are crucial for a fighting game. Until Nvidia or Sega provides further information, it’s difficult to determine how effectively Crossroads will showcase gaming on the RTX Spark platform. The first RTX Spark systems are expected to launch this fall from brands such as Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, and MSI.
