Did J-Hope from BTS just reveal Samsung's biggest surprise regarding the Galaxy Z Fold 8?

      Samsung has been creating excitement for Galaxy Unpacked over the last few days, but one of the company's notable pre-launch moments may not have originated from an official announcement. It seems to have come from BTS instead.

      While doing a soundcheck before BTS' concert in Paris, J-Hope posted an Instagram Story that seems to showcase Samsung's upcoming book-style foldable device. Although the device is not named, its wider cover display and altered proportions closely resemble the Galaxy Z Fold 8 that has appeared in recent leaks and renders. Given Samsung's strong connection with the BTS member, it's hard to view this occurrence as mere coincidence.

      The timing of the post adds to its intrigue.

      Just a day prior, Samsung Mobile released a teaser featuring J-Hope, stating, "Can’t give away too much, but J-Hope is already hyped for what’s unfolding," which strongly indicates that he is again part of the company's Galaxy Unpacked promotion. While the Instagram Story does not officially disclose the phone, it certainly appears that Samsung is at ease with giving fans an early sneak peek.

      Samsung's collaboration with BTS has been established for several years, making J-Hope a recognizable face among Galaxy enthusiasts. He has previously led promotions for Samsung’s foldable devices, while SUGA has featured in campaigns for the Galaxy Buds4 Pro series. BTS's global charm has made them one of Samsung's most prominent brand ambassadors, especially during flagship launches, which makes J-Hope's association with another Fold announcement unsurprising.

      If the device in J-Hope’s Story is indeed the Galaxy Z Fold 8, it aligns with what has emerged over recent months. Samsung is widely anticipated to move away from the tall, narrow cover display found in earlier Fold models, opting for a shorter, wider design that is expected to enhance usability when closed. The phone he is holding does closely resemble the leaked images of the Galaxy Z Fold and appears to feature the online exclusive Pistachio color.

      Leaked information has already disclosed a lot about the Fold 8.

      Leaked renders have indicated slimmer bezels, a thinner body, and improvements to the hinge that may reduce the visibility of the display crease. According to numerous leaks, the phone is likely to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Samsung is also predicted to emphasize Galaxy AI capabilities while improving multitasking on the larger inner display, reinforcing the objective of making the Fold a productivity device as well as a flagship smartphone.

      However, the camera system might be an area where Samsung opts for a different strategy. Leaks suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will have a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 50MP ultrawide camera. In contrast to Samsung’s Ultra-branded flagships, the Fold 8 is not expected to have a dedicated telephoto lens; instead, in-sensor cropping might be used for 2x zoom, though image quality could decline at higher zoom levels.       Of course, Samsung has not officially confirmed if the device shown in J-Hope’s Instagram Story is the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Until the company presents its products at Galaxy Unpacked, this remains an informed assumption based on the phone's appearance and Samsung’s current promotional activities. Nevertheless, if the intent was to spark discussion ahead of the event, it is already achieving that.

      Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at Galaxy Unpacked, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 8, a new series of Galaxy Watches, and the latest in Galaxy AI. If J-Hope’s appearance behind the scenes is any indication, fans may have already caught their first glimpse of Samsung’s next flagship foldable even before the keynote kicks off.
