Lenovo's latest gaming laptop is the first to include a 240Hz OLED display that is printed using inkjet technology.
TCL’s inkjet-printed OLED technology has finally made its way into a commercial laptop thanks to Lenovo.
TCL has been asserting for years that inkjet-printed OLED technology could enhance image quality, efficiency, lifespan, and manufacturing costs. By 2024, the company was still showcasing prototype laptop panels and promising a “comprehensive breakthrough” when the technology was ready for market.
Now, two years later, this technology is featured in a gaming laptop. Lenovo's new Legion R9000P utilizes a 16-inch display that TCL CSOT claims is the world’s first inkjet-printed OLED integrated into a laptop.
What distinguishes inkjet-printed OLED?
The traditional method of producing OLED involves depositing light-emitting materials using costly vacuum equipment and precise metal masks. Inkjet printing, on the other hand, applies the organic material directly onto the panel in defined patterns, similar to how a printer applies ink to paper.
TCL asserts that this approach is more straightforward, minimizes material waste, and could lower the manufacturing costs of OLED panels at scale. Previous company projections suggested a potential 20% reduction in total costs, improved light efficiency, and a longer material lifespan.
The Legion R9000P features a 240Hz refresh rate and covers more than 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Its standard RGB stripe layout is expected to deliver sharper text and lessen the colored fringes sometimes visible around letters on OLED screens that use triangular subpixel arrangements.
What hardware is Lenovo likely to include?
Lenovo has not disclosed details about the laptop’s processor, graphics card, pricing, or release date. Based on past R9000P models, it is likely to be positioned between the upper mid-range and premium gaming categories. The 2024 version combined a Ryzen 9 7945HX with an RTX 4060, while the 2025 Ultimate Edition included a Ryzen 9 9955HX3D and RTX 5080.
If Lenovo aims to highlight the new display, they may pair it with an RTX 5080 and a current AMD or Intel processor. R9000P models are frequently marketed globally under the Legion Pro 5 series, although Lenovo has not confirmed any international plans yet.

OpenAI has updated the ChatGPT desktop app following user dissatisfaction with its recent redesign.
The desktop version of ChatGPT is undergoing significant adjustments. After the integration of Chat, Work, and Codex into a single app about a week ago, users encountered more problems than expected, obscuring fundamental features like chat history and complicating mode switching. Now, OpenAI has implemented a series of fixes based on user feedback to ensure a consistent experience across devices.
I’ve identified five mechanical keyboards that I would strongly recommend for Back-to-School.
Choosing the right mechanical keyboard can enhance every assignment, game, and study session. Finding a mechanical keyboard differs from searching for a laptop; rather than flashy specs or benchmark scores, a keyboard is something you'll use every day. Whether you're taking notes, writing essays, coding late at night, or relaxing with some games after class, I've reviewed numerous options and narrowed it down to these five. They range from budget-friendly starter boards to high-end keyboards and gaming-focused models, all of which I genuinely recommend for the Back-to-School season.
HP has been fined millions for collusion regarding ink and PCs.
HP has come under scrutiny for significantly more serious issues beyond the high costs of printer ink. The Competition Commission of India has imposed a fine of 1.42 billion rupees, roughly $15 million, on HP India and 21 of its resellers for allegedly rigging bids for government contracts related to personal computers, toner, cartridges, and other printing supplies. These violations occurred in tenders submitted through the Government e-Marketplace between 2017 and 2020. HP reportedly controlled who could participate in these bids.
