The new search feature in ChatGPT eliminates the need to sift through previous conversations, documents, and pictures.
You can now filter ChatGPT search results by content type.
If you’ve ever misplaced a valuable ChatGPT response within your vast chat history, that issue has been resolved. OpenAI has introduced a significant search enhancement that enables users to locate old chats, projects, documents, and images all from a single location.
Previously, the sidebar search featured only past conversations, excluding uploaded files, projects, and generated images. The upgraded search functionality is now accessible on web, iOS, and Android platforms, available for every ChatGPT plan, including free accounts.
Searching through your chats has become quicker and more effective 🔎 From the sidebar, you can now search chats, projects, images, and documents in one spot across web, iOS, and Android. Use filters to refine results, and selecting any item allows you to open it directly in ChatGPT. pic.twitter.com/wYNi2a39wh— ChatGPT (@ChatGPTapp) July 15, 2026.
How does the updated ChatGPT search function?
You can begin your search directly from the ChatGPT sidebar, just as you did before, but now it encompasses everything in your account instead of solely chats. To refine your search, filters are available that allow you to look for specific content types, such as retrieving only images or files related to a particular project. Once you locate the desired item, clicking on it opens that chat, project, or file straight within ChatGPT, bypassing the need for extensive scrolling.
This update closely coincides with OpenAI’s recent GPT-5.6 release, which introduced its own series of enhancements, including a new AI agent called ChatGPT Work that manages entire projects rather than just individual questions. This agent connects to your apps and files, tackles multi-step tasks, and can continue operating in the background even after you close ChatGPT.
Why is this significant?
The new ChatGPT search doesn’t alter what it preserves; it merely makes everything that’s already been saved much more accessible. This is particularly beneficial for users who frequently utilize ChatGPT for ongoing projects, research, or document analysis. By consolidating everything into one searchable location, you can quickly find what you need, filter the outcomes, and resume your work within seconds.

Gemini might finally let you determine how friendly it sounds.
At last, you can prevent Gemini from sounding like your HR manager.
Google has been working over the past few months to make Gemini sound more natural, expressive, and conversational. Now, it seems the company is preparing to provide users with greater control over the AI's speech.
Code uncovered by Android Authority's APK Insights in the recent beta version of the Google app indicates that Gemini may soon allow users to customize its voice across four distinct parameters: Energy, Formality, Warmth, and Speed. Instead of selecting from a predetermined list of personalities, users could adjust these traits to create a voice that aligns better with their preferences.
