How does the new ChatGPT search function?
You can initiate searches from the ChatGPT sidebar just like before, but now it encompasses everything in your account, not just chats. To refine your search, there are filters available that let you look for specific types of content, such as only images or files associated with a particular project. When you locate what you need, clicking on a result opens that chat, project, or file immediately in ChatGPT, bypassing the need for endless scrolling.
This update also aligns with OpenAI's recent GPT-5.6 launch, which included its own set of enhancements, such as the introduction of a new AI agent named ChatGPT Work that manages entire projects rather than isolated questions. It connects to your apps and files, undertakes multi-step tasks, and can continue to operate in the background even after you close ChatGPT.
