Tesla produced a balance bike for toddlers priced at $225. It features no motor and no pedals, and it is already out of stock.
Tesla introduced a balance bike priced at $225, designed for children between the ages of 2 and 5. This bike does not have a motor, pedals, or brakes, relying completely on the little riders' legs for motion. It features a lightweight white magnesium frame, a five-way adjustable seat, the Tesla wordmark on the side, and the T logo on the front. It sold out almost instantly, although Tesla has not revealed the number of units available.
This balance bike is among the most expensive in its category, with most competitors priced below $100. The Woom 1, one of the few priced higher at $249, at least includes brakes. Tesla is also offering a coordinating balance bike T-shirt for $30. The company has previously launched children’s products, such as the $1,500 ride-on Cybertruck for Kids, the $1,650 Cyberquad ATV, and a winding Cybercab toy. The Cyberquad was recalled previously for not meeting ATV safety standards.
Many Tesla enthusiasts, however, are interested in an adult e-bike. Musk has stated he considers bicycles unsafe after a teenage accident and has no plans to create one. The balance bike serves as an unrequested compromise, presenting a premium-priced product without advanced technology for a demographic that is not yet able to spell Tesla. Tesla’s primary automotive business is generating significant revenue, exceeding projections by 18%, while selling branded merchandise to the younger generation functions as a low-cost side venture.
