Xbox and Nvidia aim for Gears of War: E-Day to demonstrate the true capabilities of RTX PCs.
Here’s what NVIDIA's new exclusive partnership adds to the PC version of Gears of War: E-Day, along with the launch timeline for players.
Gears of War fans who are building a new PC have a compelling reason to include a GeForce card in their setup. The Coalition and Xbox have announced NVIDIA as the exclusive PC partner for Gears of War: E-Day, collaborating with the studio since the early development stages for performance optimization and launch assistance.
So, what does NVIDIA's partnership offer?
The game, built on Unreal Engine 5 and DirectX 12, will feature NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation, DLSS Super Resolution, and NVIDIA Reflex for minimized latency. Essentially, gamers using RTX graphics will experience higher frame rates, clearer visuals, and decreased input lag.
Hardware ray tracing will enhance Unreal Engine 5's Lumen global illumination and the new MegaLights system, allowing the studio to utilize hundreds of dynamic, shadow-casting light sources simultaneously. This should result in more lifelike lighting and deeper shadows in the game.
“Partnering with NVIDIA provides us with the opportunity to amplify that world for PC gamers,” stated Mike Perzel, The Coalition’s Rendering Lead.
Importantly, players without an RTX card won’t be excluded either. Support for AMD FSR, Unreal Engine TSR, and Intel XeSS will be available, along with Advanced Shader Delivery, which sends precompiled shaders with the game to reduce loading times and eliminate stuttering during the first run. The game will initially be offered through the Microsoft Store and the Xbox PC app.
When can you start playing?
Early Access to the open beta will commence on August 6 for pre-order customers and Xbox’s PC Game Pass subscribers. The full game will be released on October 6, 2026. Additionally, it is important to note that E-Day will not be available on PS5, making it an Xbox, PC, and Xbox Cloud exclusive.
This partnership arrives just as Xbox has completely pulled E-Day from PS5, reinforcing its commitment to PC as a significant platform. The combination of this initiative with NVIDIA's most extensive DLSS rollout suggests that Microsoft aims for E-Day to serve as a showcase title for the RTX 50-series cards, rather than merely another addition to Game Pass.
