The upcoming three months will significantly impact the global smartphone market. As three of the leading handset manufacturers prepare to launch their next generation of foldable and flagship devices, the memory crisis continues to escalate, resulting in higher phone prices across various segments.

Samsung is set to reveal its latest foldables on July 22, 2026, followed by Apple's new CEO, John Ternus, who will unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and the first foldable iPhone in September as per their annual tradition. However, it is in August that Google will hold its “Made by Google” launch event, focusing on hardware and showcasing the Pixel 11 series.

For those who may not be up to speed, Google has already conducted two software-oriented events earlier this year: The Android Show and Google I/O 2026. In August, Sundar Pichai is expected to present a selection of new smartphones, a foldable model, a smartwatch, and potentially a set of wireless earbuds. Now, let's delve into the anticipated announcements for the Made By Google event in August 2026.

When will Google launch the Pixel 11?

The Pixel 11 series and other devices are anticipated to be introduced at the Made by Google event on August 12, 2026. The live event will be held in New York at 6 PM ET, and viewers can watch the livestream on the company's official YouTube channel or follow the updates on Google’s Keyword blog.

Last year, Google unveiled the Pixel 10 series on August 20, 2025, with sales starting on August 28. If a similar timeline is planned for the Pixel 11 series, the devices could be available on August 20, 2026. However, pre-orders should be possible right after the launch event concludes.

Standard Pixel 11 may feature new camera and chipset

The standard Pixel 11 is expected to maintain a 6.3-inch 120Hz OLED display, potentially receiving an upgrade to a new panel. An ET News report from April 2026 indicates that this model and others in the series could utilize Samsung’s M16 OLED panel, making it the first to do so before a Galaxy smartphone.

This enhancement could yield a brighter and more color-accurate display. Additionally, the M16 OLED panel is more energy-efficient compared to the M14 OLED found in the Pixel 10 and iPhone 17.

With this, the Pixel 11 may be powered by the new Tensor G6, Google’s inaugural chip made using 2nm fabrication technology (likely sourced from TSMC, although Samsung could also be involved). Reports indicate it may feature a seven-core design as opposed to eight, with a 1+4+2 configuration and a peak frequency of 4.11 GHz, along with up to 12GB of RAM.

It is possible that the Pixel 11 will not offer a 128GB storage option, as Google might replace it with 256GB as the base option, which would also increase the entry-level price. Discussing pricing, the Pixel 11 is projected to launch at $899, $100 higher than its predecessor, the Pixel 10.

Rumor has it that Google might transition to a PowerVR-based GPU, which may not bring substantial changes in performance. However, the device is expected to launch with a more powerful TPU. There’s also an anticipated shift from Samsung’s Exynos modem to MediaTek’s M90 modem for better efficiency and thermal management.

In terms of camera capabilities, the Pixel 11 could adopt a new 50MP main sensor, code-named “chemosh,” upgrading from the 48MP sensor in the
