Your YouTube playlists can now be transformed into real TV shows, but there's a caveat you should be aware of.
YouTube has provided creators in the Partner Program with an episodic framework that has been utilized by Netflix to keep viewers engaged for years.

YouTube has now equipped its creators with a tool that is often taken for granted by streaming services. This tool allows for the structuring of content as authentic episodic television.
If you are part of the YouTube Partner Program and have been categorizing your videos into playlists while hoping the algorithm and your viewers will take notice, then Shows is the enhancement you’ve been seeking.
A new method to organize your episodic content has arrived 🎬. Creators in the YouTube Partner Program can now transform playlists into shows or create new ones from scratch. So, what capabilities does YouTube Shows provide?
Creators in the YPP can now change existing playlists into shows or create new ones through YouTube Studio.
After configuring a show, videos can be sorted into seasons and episodes. Creators have two options for organizing their uploads: non-serial (where episodes can be watched in any order, listed from newest to oldest) or serial (where episodes are viewed in chronological order, from oldest to newest).
In addition to organizing videos, creators can enhance their shows with custom artwork in three styles: poster, backdrop, and title treatment. Descriptions and other metadata also lend a professional feel to the show (as stated by YouTube Help).

Why is the aspect of discoverability the main focus here?
Because while appearing in search results is expected, features like "Continue Watching" and "Recommended Shows" make things truly compelling.
These two elements are the fundamental engagement loops that Netflix and Prime have built their entire streaming services around. The subtle prompt that draws someone back to their content instead of scrolling elsewhere is incredibly effective.
YouTube is now providing independent creators with that same engagement trigger, which is remarkable. One thing to note, however, is that access to this feature is restricted to YouTube Partner Program members only. Creators who have not reached the monetization threshold cannot utilize it.

Nonetheless, for those who meet the criteria, this is among the most genuinely beneficial features YouTube has introduced in years.
While YouTube has had Playlists for a long time, it has never created true show metadata or specialized discovery tools associated with them, which is what sets Shows apart in my opinion. It directly fills that gap.
