Spotify has introduced new controls for Release Radar, allowing you to discover new music in your preferred way.
Spotify's Release Radar introduces new session controls that allow users to filter new music by genre, artists, and more.
If your Release Radar has seemed a bit unpredictable lately, Spotify has provided you with the means to enhance your experience. The streaming service is globally launching a new set of session controls for Release Radar today, available on both mobile and desktop platforms. This update enables you to customize your weekly new music playlist rather than simply accepting what the algorithm presents.
What are the features of Spotify's new Release Radar controls?
At the top of your Release Radar playlist, you'll find new session controls that you can select before starting playback. You can choose from up to five options based on your desired Friday listening experience.
Interested in exploring new sounds? There's an option to "Discover new artists" that centers around artists you haven't encountered before. If you want to stick to a certain sound, three personalized genre selections based on your listening history will help you refine the playlist to a specific style. Additionally, there's an "Editors' picks" option for those who want Spotify's team to curate the selections.
Alongside the controls, Spotify has improved its recommendation system to ensure that the tracks included in your radar align more closely with your preferences than in the past.
The updated design and where to access it
Release Radar is also receiving a visual update, featuring new cover and header art that provides the playlist with a more polished and refined aesthetic to align with the revamped experience. Nearly 9 million listeners engage with this playlist weekly, making it one of Spotify’s major tools for music discovery.
You can find your updated Release Radar every Friday on the Fresh New Music shelf within the Spotify Home tab, or you can access it anytime through the Made For You hub.
If you have previously bypassed Release Radar due to its randomness, this update is definitely worth your attention. Additionally, Spotify now allows you to pin more than four items in your library.
