Spotify has finally allowed users to pin more than four items in their library, a change that has been a long time coming.
Spotify has finally addressed a long-standing issue by increasing the limit on pinned items in Your Library from four to 20. Yes, you read that correctly.
For years, Spotify believed that four items were adequate, even as users requested more. Today, the company has finally relented. To their credit, raising the limit to 20 is a significant improvement.
People have been asking for some time, “Why can I only pin 4 things?” That’s a valid question. — Spotify (@Spotify) July 8, 2026
So, what has changed, and how does one pin items?
Previously, users were limited to pinning four artists, albums, or playlists at the top of their Library for easy access.
As of today, that limit has been increased to 20. Spotify acknowledged this change on X with a rare moment of self-reflection: “For years, we’ve heard the same question: Why can I only pin four things? Fair question.”
To pin an item, simply press and hold on any entry in Your Library, then tap Pin. This will secure it at the top of your library. You can rearrange or unpin items whenever you wish.
It’s notable that this feature was quietly rolled out to some users earlier this week and was first noticed in the r/truespotify subreddit before the official announcement.
This update is being rolled out globally to both Free and Premium users starting today. Feel free to make yourself at home. 💚— Spotify (@Spotify) July 8, 2026
How does Spotify’s new limit compare to its competitors?
It’s certainly an improvement, which is the most honest assessment. For years, Spotify's library organization has fallen behind Apple Music on several basic features, despite having the largest global subscriber base. Apple Music implemented pinning before Spotify but limited it to six items.
YouTube Music also offers a quick-access feature for favorites. With its new limit of 20, Spotify now boasts the most generous option among the three.
Both Free and Premium users will benefit from this update today, which is another important point: a subscription is not required to utilize it.
In my view, increasing the limit to 20 provides Spotify with a genuine organizational edge, particularly for avid users with extensive libraries, and finally resolves years of feedback from the community across Reddit and social media.

I was initially doubtful about clip-style open earbuds, but after trying my first pair, I find it hard to return to regular ones.
With no pressure, no plugged feeling, and no fatigue, open-air audio earclips have secured a permanent place in my daily routine after months of all-day use.
I don't classify myself as an audiophile and don't focus on terms like LDAC and DSEE upscaling. To me, they're just practical tools for daily use. However, I’ve started prioritizing how seamlessly earbuds fit into my day, rather than just judging them by sound quality. The current market often emphasizes bass, noise cancellation, and feature-packed specifications, which has made comfort a less significant priority. I recently tried the Baseus Bowie MC2, my first clip-style earbuds, and it was a game changer for me. I purchased them on Amazon for $40, making it an affordable investment. Taking that leap of faith was definitely worthwhile.
