Adobe's latest AI assistant has the potential to save you hours when using Photoshop and Premiere.
Adobe is making a significant investment in AI-driven creativity. The company has revealed a substantial enhancement of its creative agent across Firefly and Creative Cloud, launching AI assistants capable of managing intricate, multi-step workflows within applications like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign, and Frame.io.
This initiative positions Adobe’s AI agent as a crucial link throughout the entire creative process, spanning from brainstorming and content creation to editing and final production. Rather than merely producing images or text, Adobe aims to develop an assistant that comprehends a creator's objectives and executes a sequence of actions across various tools.
As per Adobe, creators will be able to articulate their desired outcomes in natural language while the AI manages repetitive tasks in the background. The company states that the objective is to allow creators to dedicate less time to technical workflows and more time to creative decision-making.
Firefly enhances its capabilities with new AI-driven creative tools.
Adobe is also broadening Firefly's functions, its AI-driven creative platform, with numerous new tools designed for creators, marketers, and small businesses.
One of the notable additions is the generation of AI-powered brand kits. Users can describe their brand’s style, colors, and identity, and Firefly will automatically create logos, color schemes, and branding assets that are reusable across projects.
The platform can also produce short product videos from static images, automatically edit clips into rough video cuts, create storyboards from concepts, and even convert those storyboards into videos.
Additionally, Adobe is showcasing a revamped Firefly creative AI studio that merges content generation and editing into a singular workspace. This new experience introduces “Elements” and “Projects,” enabling creators to save characters, locations, objects, and other assets for use across multiple projects while ensuring visual coherence.
The improved Firefly experience is currently available in a private beta via a waitlist.
AI assistants are being integrated into Creative Cloud applications.
In addition to Firefly, Adobe is incorporating AI assistants directly into several Creative Cloud applications.
In Photoshop, users can command actions such as changing backgrounds, resizing assets for various platforms, or organizing complex layer structures. Illustrator users can automate repetitive production tasks such as generating multiple design variations, reorganizing layers, and checking files for printing issues.
Premiere Pro’s AI Assistant is tailored for video workflows, aiding editors in organizing footage, renaming clips, identifying interview segments, placing markers, and even creating rough cuts automatically.
InDesign users can implement branding updates across layouts, while Frame.io introduces AI tools for managing creative assets, tracking feedback, and organizing project revisions.
Adobe claims this expansion reflects the growing acceptance of AI among creators in their workflows. According to the company's latest creator survey, 75 percent of creators now view AI as an important or essential component of their work. However, 85 percent also believe that final creative decisions should remain with humans.
This philosophy seems to be fundamental to Adobe’s approach. Instead of replacing creators, the company aims for its AI agents to act as creative collaborators, handling the routine tasks while leaving artistic judgment to the individuals behind the projects.
