Windows 11 has just addressed one of Search's most frustrating limitations, and you'll be amazed at how much you missed it.
One less character, one less hassle each time you search your PC.
Windows 11 / Microsoft
If you have ever entered two letters into the Windows 11 search box, paused, and observed that nothing useful occurred until you typed additional characters, you already understand the significance of this Windows 11 update.
Microsoft's June 2026 Patch Tuesday update, which Windows Latest refers to as the largest of the year, discreetly addresses this issue. Windows Search can now find and prioritize files using just two characters, down from the previous minimum of three characters.

So, what exactly has changed in Windows Search?
Prior to this update, entering two letters from a file name yielded no useful results. You needed to add a third character or more before Windows would begin searching. Even then, your file could get lost among web results and application suggestions.
Now, typing two characters is sufficient to initiate a meaningful search. The update also enhances the ranking of results, ensuring that your actual file appears closer to the top rather than being obscured by links and Copilot suggestions.

Why does reducing the character requirement actually matter?
Most of us label files with short, practical titles. Personally, managing several dozen files daily, I often use brief labels like Q3 or V2, precisely the types of names that were previously almost invisible in search.
Reducing one required character may seem minor initially, but it eliminates a small, persistent inconvenience encountered every time you search for something on your PC. It’s the kind of improvement that feels obvious only after it’s in place, one that should have been implemented years ago.
This change is included in KB5094126 for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2.

Google Search can now track the web for updates on your interests.
AI Mode on Google Search now enables users to create search agents.
Google has begun to roll out AI Search agents capable of monitoring the web for users and providing updates when relevant information changes. This feature was initially revealed at Google I/O 2026 as part of Google’s extensive AI Mode overhaul, which also featured a redesigned search box, Gemini 3.5 Flash, personalized intelligence features, and new agent tools for creating mini apps and dashboards.
This new functionality is referred to as information agents. It is intended for searches that don’t conclude with a single answer. Instead of repeatedly checking the same query, users can ask Google to continue tracking a topic behind the scenes.

Apple has made Liquid Glass adjustable, signaling much about Liquid Glass.
The new slider is practical, appreciated, and somewhat amusing after a year of Apple behaving as if transparency was the obvious future.
Apple’s ambitious glassy software vision now includes the ability to reduce its glassiness. In iOS 27, users can modify the translucency of the Liquid Glass effect, while macOS Golden Gate introduces its own Liquid Glass adjustments within System Settings.
Liquid Glass remains a feature across Apple’s platforms, still glistening through menus and panels, still delivering the elegant user interface effect that Apple evidently favors. After a year of promoting translucency as the next logical step, WWDC’s most enlightening design update may be the one that allows users to tone it down.

Brazil’s secret World Cup strategy taught the team when to disregard it.
The data indicated he wasn't running enough. The video evidence showed he was always in the "perfect tactical position."
Brazil has secured more World Cup titles than anyone else, totaling five, but after five consecutive tournaments without adding to that tally, the team is heavily relying on data this time.
Every player dons a sensor-equipped "smart vest" that tracks field position (via GPS), heart rate, and a statistic known as "player load," similar to the metrics reported by your Whoop band or Apple Watch, but specifically calibrated for the sport.
