If you’ve been subscribing to a voice transcription app, it might be wise to pause on renewing that subscription.
Google has introduced Google AI Edge Eloquent for macOS, making its free dictation app available to Mac users. The application listens to your speech, transcribes it, and refines the text in real-time by eliminating filler words and enhancing clarity.
Known as “Google AI Edge Eloquent,” the app was initially released on iOS a few months back and has now made its way to macOS. Unfortunately, as has been the case before, Google is treating its own mobile platform as an afterthought and has yet to release an Android version.
What distinguishes it from others?
The main distinction lies in where the transcription occurs. Unlike most transcription services that depend on cloud processing, Eloquent operates entirely on your device, utilizing Google’s Gemma AI models that you install directly on your Mac. This ensures your audio remains on your Mac, providing a significant advantage in terms of privacy.

In addition to privacy, the app allows you to select from various writing styles to suit the tone you wish to convey. You can also include personalized words in its dictionary, whether it's a client’s name, industry terminology, or any phrase that your dictation app often misinterprets.
Anyone who has witnessed their transcription software repeatedly mishandle a name will value this capability.
Does this pose a threat to paid transcription services?
It certainly seems that way. Numerous well-known transcription and dictation applications charge a subscription fee for features that Eloquent appears to offer for free. On-device processing, refined transcriptions, and styling options are not mere basic features; they are precisely the kinds of functionalities users are willing to pay for.

Google is eager to obtain your app code and is willing to pay for it
Google is offering financial compensation for app code, and the reason is as expected.
The company has been discreetly contacting Android developers with a proposal to purchase access to their code. According to 404 Media, Google reached out to a select group of Google Play developers, inviting them to participate in what it terms a "confidential content offer pilot." The email presents this as a chance for revenue, stating that developers can "earn money by sharing the code that powers your apps, as well as your archived projects." Google assures developers that they retain their intellectual property rights and that the license will be non-exclusive.

Huang’s confirmation of a multi-generation roadmap before the launch of the first device signals a strong commitment for the next decade.
The PC and laptop market has relied on Intel and AMD processors for so long that most individuals don't even consider whether those are the only choices. Nvidia recently answered that query at Computex 2026 with the RTX Spark superchip, and Jensen Huang’s remarks about future developments imply that this is not merely a one-time endeavor.
AI fitness coach detects muscle mechanics while you work out, helping to avert beginner injuries
While most fitness applications provide motivational messages disguised as coaching, BioCoach offers specific anatomical corrections, and it seems poised to become a smartphone app soon.
During the pandemic, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission noted a 48% increase in at-home exercise injuries. You might assume that poor equipment was to blame, but it was actually improper form. Without a coach present to provide guidance, many people struggled. Researchers from Drexel University and Michigan State University have designed a prototype that tackles this exact issue in real-time using your phone's camera, with promising potential for it to evolve into a legitimate fitness app in the future (via Tech Xplore).
