YouTube's AI content labels are receiving a much-needed update.

No more searching through descriptions. YouTube's AI labels are finally taking center stage.

This year's Google I/O signified Google's shift from a search-centric company to one focused entirely on AI. The company unveiled various AI tools, with Google Omni, designed for video generation and editing, being the most significant for YouTubers.

While tools like Omni make it easier for creators, which is beneficial, they also lead to the platform being flooded with low-effort AI-generated content. Acknowledging that this may frustrate many users, the company has been urging creators to indicate AI-generated content since 2024.

This was a positive initial step, but the label was previously placed in the video description, which is not very noticeable. That changes today. YouTube is introducing two important updates regarding how AI-generated content is labeled, both of which benefit viewers and creators.

Where will the new labels be displayed?

For long-form videos, the AI disclosure label is shifting from the description to a position directly under the video player. Users won’t need to open the description to determine if the video they are watching was created using AI.

For Shorts, the label will appear as an overlay directly on the video. If a video appears realistic but has been created or significantly altered using AI, viewers will be informed before they even start watching.

For content that is animated, unrealistic, or only slightly modified, the disclosure will remain in the expanded description. Thus, the updates specifically target photorealistic or substantially altered content.

What if a creator fails to disclose AI content?

While YouTube does not penalize AI-generated videos, some creators may not mention this information or may forget. YouTube has a solution for this as well. The platform is introducing automatic AI detection. If the system identifies significant photorealistic AI use in a video that lacks a disclosure from the creator, YouTube will automatically apply the label.

If the system mistakenly labels a video, creators can modify the disclosure status in YouTube Studio. The label will only be permanently applied in cases where videos are created using YouTube's own AI tools, such as Veo or Dream Screen, or where metadata confirms they are entirely AI-generated.

As previously mentioned, these labels do not influence video recommendations or monetization. This initiative is solely aimed at providing viewers with accurate information at the appropriate time.

AI models show a bias towards certain religions, as highlighted by new research.

AI models are subtly guiding users towards specific religions without most being aware of it. A recent research consortium discovered that when individuals query AI about topics such as grief, love, loss, or moral choices, religion is rarely included in the response. The Consortium for Evaluation of Faith and Ethics in AI (CEFE-AI), a collaboration of researchers from Brigham Young University, Baylor University, the University of Notre Dame, and Yeshiva University, shared its findings this week at the Summit on AI Ethics held in Athens, Greece.

Apple's iOS 26.6 warns users when they have hit the limit for blocked contacts, and this poses a problem.

The sole new feature in iOS 26.6, which is currently in beta for developers, is an alert notifying users that their blocked contacts list is full. This is the only addition. The necessity for Apple to include this alert underscores the company's problematic handling of spam call issues, alongside carriers and regulators.
