Samsung might finally eliminate the most criticized camera lens of the Galaxy Ultra.

      Samsung might be on the verge of a significant transformation for its flagship Galaxy S series. Recent leaks indicate that the company is testing a new Galaxy S27 Pro model, which could occupy the space between the standard Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Notably, this phone may provide a distinctly different camera experience compared to the Ultra model.

      The primary change pertains to Samsung's telephoto camera strategy, an area where the Galaxy Ultra phones have received ongoing criticism.

      The latest rumors suggest that both the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are expected to include the same 200MP main camera and ultrawide sensor. The significant difference would lie in the zoom camera configuration. The Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to introduce a new 50MP ALoP telephoto sensor with 3.5x optical zoom, whereas the Galaxy S27 Ultra may feature a distinct 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.

      More importantly, Samsung allegedly plans to completely remove the long-criticized 3x telephoto lens from the Ultra model. Mid-range zoom levels tend to be more beneficial for portraits, food photography, pet pictures, and day-to-day shooting than extreme long-range zoom.

Traditionally, the Ultra models have boasted nearly all of Samsung's top-tier hardware, while the standard and Plus versions often seemed like compromised options with fewer standout features.
