The wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is said to feature only dual rear cameras and a 4,800mAh battery, while the standard Fold 8 (soon to be renamed Ultra) will boast a triple rear camera system and a larger battery. On paper, it makes sense for the better-equipped device to receive the Ultra designation.

      However, anyone familiar with the Galaxy Z Fold series will anticipate that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a direct upgrade to the Galaxy Z Fold 7; instead, they’ll find a wider, passport-style device that represents a completely different form factor. This isn’t an upgrade; it’s a different product sharing a familiar name.

      Samsung is essentially requiring consumers to discard years of brand recognition, which rarely goes well. Many customers may feel confused when making a purchase, and this confusion could negatively impact Samsung's sales.
