Ubisoft aims for a resurgence with Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Ghost Recon, and an AI experiment that has players concerned.
Ubisoft’s inaugural playable generative AI project is on the horizon, but gamers are already expressing doubts.
Ubisoft is aiming to regain momentum and is relying heavily on its most popular franchises for this revival, as indicated in its recent earnings report. However, the French publisher/developer is also venturing into generative AI for new experiences.
The FY2025-26 earnings report from Ubisoft indicates that the company anticipates a significantly stronger content pipeline for FY2027-28 and FY2028-29, featuring major releases tied to franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon.
What are Ubisoft’s plans?

The upcoming year is intentionally less packed. Ubisoft has announced that FY2026-27 will introduce Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, slated for release on July 9, 2026, along with other premium games based on established brands. The company also disclosed that it has halted seven projects and delayed six others as part of a comprehensive portfolio overhaul.
It's not surprising that Ubisoft is banking on its well-known franchises, which boast significant fanbases, including series like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon. Additionally, multiplayer titles such as Rainbow Six Siege, The Division 2, and The Crew have contributed to a strong performance in Q4, while Rainbow Six Mobile and The Division Resurgence are part of their mobile strategy, despite a slow start.
Why AI has gamers concerned
The most unexpected element of the report is Ubisoft’s introduction of Teammates, identified as its “first playable Generative AI experience.” The company has expressed its commitment to increasing investments in this project to “enrich player experiences.”
Ubisoft also mentioned that its teams are progressing on AI development tools, which include advanced bots for quality control, smarter NPCs, and game environments that can adapt to player actions and respond more dynamically in real time.

This has already raised concerns among gamers. The use of generative AI in gaming remains a contentious issue. The main concern is whether these tools will assist developers or subtly replace human artistry.
The challenge will be demonstrating that Teammates is a desirable experience for players. Feedback on social media has largely been negative, with players expressing worries about quality.
