Google Antigravity 2.0 has been released, featuring a CLI, SDK, and AI agents.

      Google introduced Antigravity 2.0 at I/O 2026, transforming its initial agentic coding tool into a comprehensive developer platform featuring an updated desktop application, a new command-line interface (CLI) built in Go, and a software development kit (SDK) for custom agents. The update also includes a new AI Ultra plan priced at $100 per month and phases out the Gemini CLI for consumer users.

      On Monday during I/O 2026, Google made a bold entry into the rapidly advancing agentic coding market by launching Antigravity 2.0. This platform has evolved from its beginnings as a competitor to Cursor into a robust developer ecosystem, complete with a redesigned desktop app, a new command-line tool, and an SDK for creating custom agents.

      The original Antigravity was released in November 2025 alongside Gemini 3 as a free, agent-centric integrated development environment (IDE). Antigravity 2.0 represents a significant shift. The main feature of this update is the enhanced desktop application, which prioritizes multi-agent orchestration. Developers can now have multiple agents address problems concurrently, create tailored subagent workflows, and set up tasks that run automatically in the background.

      The integrations are extensive. Antigravity 2.0 seamlessly connects with Google AI Studio, Firebase, and Android, enabling developers to export projects directly from AI Studio to their local Antigravity environment while maintaining complete context. For those who enjoy terminal work, Google is releasing a new Antigravity CLI, built in Go, which the company claims is quicker and more responsive than the older version.

      The previous CLI, Gemini CLI, will be phased out. Google announced that consumer access to Gemini CLI and Gemini Code Assist IDE extensions will end on June 18, 2026, for AI Pro, AI Ultra, and free-tier users. However, enterprise customers with Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise licenses will continue to have access, clearly indicating that Antigravity is the platform's future direction.

      Completing the platform is the Antigravity SDK, empowering developers to create custom agents atop Google’s coding infrastructure. Google Cloud users can connect directly to Antigravity, with custom agent templates available in AI Studio for enterprise applications. The company mentioned that Antigravity has already been utilized internally to develop consumer features, such as custom user interface generation in Google Search.

      Driving this development is the new Gemini 3.5 Flash model, which Google asserts surpasses Gemini 3.1 Pro in coding and agentic benchmarks while operating four times faster than competing leading models. In an interesting self-reference, Google claims Gemini 3.5 Flash was co-developed using Antigravity. The desktop application also features native voice command support, allowing developers to communicate with their agents vocally instead of typing.

      Regarding pricing, Google is launching a new AI Ultra tier priced at $100 per month, offering five times the usage limits of the AI Pro plan. The existing highest AI Ultra subscription has been reduced from $250 to $200 per month, offering 20 times the Pro limits. This $100 pricing positions Google directly against OpenAI’s newly launched ChatGPT Pro tier and Anthropic’s Claude Max, both offering enhanced access to coding tools for the same monthly fee. The premium tier at $200 aligns with Anthropic’s leading Claude Max offering.

      This timing is strategic. The market for agentic coding tools is rapidly expanding, and every significant AI lab is vying for developer loyalty. GitHub has recently halted new sign-ups for Copilot as agentic workloads have altered the economics of AI-assisted development, and GitLab has begun to adapt for what it terms the “agentic era.” With Antigravity 2.0, Google is wagering that the future of coding will be dominated by those who can coordinate the most agents, at the fastest pace, across the widest range of platforms.
