      X is finally offering users a specific area to store and revisit their saved content. The platform is introducing a new History tab on iOS, which brings together Bookmarks, long videos, Articles, and Likes in one place.

      A single location for all your saved content

      Previously, these different content types were dispersed throughout the app, making it easy to misplace items you intended to return to. Bookmarks were found in a separate tab, Likes were located within your profile, and there was no dedicated space for long videos or articles you had started but not completed. The History tab unifies these features, allowing you to resume where you left off without having to search through your feed or profile.

      Nikita Bier, X's head of product, highlighted this feature in a recent announcement, stating that the fast-paced timeline makes it hard to catch up on long-form content. The History tab aims to address this issue by providing a more permanent space for longer videos and articles; however, it is currently only available on iOS. X has not yet shared details on when it will be available for Android users.

      The broader context

      The History tab is part of X's larger goal to evolve into an all-in-one app. The platform is enhancing its Articles feature and promoting longer, high-resolution video uploads as it competes with YouTube and other video-centric platforms for creator engagement. Facilitating an easier way for users to locate and revisit content is a practical step towards enhancing these formats on the platform.

      The only drawback of the History tab is that it is indiscriminate. The long-form article you bookmarked with good intentions will reside there alongside every impulsive post you liked at midnight. Just a heads up.
