Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z foldables will offer an abundance of AI features powered by Gemini Intelligence.
Gemini Intelligence may enable the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 to manage multi-app tasks from a single command.
According to Seoul Economic Daily, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z models are set to leverage mobile AI in a more functional manner. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 are expected to come with One UI 9 and Google's Gemini Intelligence, which will provide a more advanced assistant layer compared to existing Galaxy AI features.
Gemini Intelligence is designed to navigate between related applications and accomplish interconnected tasks. This means that the phone's assistant can carry out a series of actions across different apps instead of stopping after just one command.
An example of its capabilities could be for a grocery run. A user might create a shopping list in a notes app, request Gemini Intelligence to transfer those items into a delivery app's shopping cart, and then check out and make the payment.
This is the edge Samsung needs to showcase. Reducing the number of taps is more significant than offering another refined chatbot interface. While Samsung previously introduced some app-launching functionalities with One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy S26 series, One UI 9 is anticipated to manage multiple apps under a single request.
The Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 are reportedly the first devices to receive Gemini Intelligence, which offers Samsung a cleaner approach to market the next generation of Galaxy AI. Each year, premium foldables must justify their pricing, and software improvements are one of the few avenues Samsung can utilize to enhance the user experience.
However, there's a caveat. Gemini Intelligence is not included in the One UI 9 beta currently rolling out for Galaxy S26 users in South Korea and other key markets. It is expected to be part of the final release, making the actual evaluation depend on app compatibility, responsiveness, and how much cleanup is required after usage.
Samsung is anticipated to reveal the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 in July, providing an ideal platform to showcase Gemini Intelligence. Although One UI 9 beta testing has begun for Galaxy S26 users in main markets, the most significant assistant feature is being saved for the official launch.
For prospective buyers, it would be prudent to wait for live demonstrations before considering this as a reason to upgrade. Information on pricing and regional availability is still pending, and Samsung's upcoming foldables will need to demonstrate that the automation effectively saves time without leaving users to resolve any resulting issues.
