Prosus aims to raise $3.6 billion from Just Eat as part of its expansion into the European food delivery market.
Prosus aims to achieve $3.6 billion in annual revenue from Just Eat Takeaway, the European food-delivery company it purchased for €4.1 billion last year, as stated by the Naspers-controlled investor in a strategy update on Tuesday. This figure serves as a short-term commercial goal for the asset that Prosus has been integrating over the past nine months.
The company intends to enhance operational efficiency and expedite consolidation in the European delivery market, where it now competes with Delivery Hero, Uber Eats, Wolt, and various regional operators. The food-delivery sector is being overseen by CEO Fabricio Bloisi, who took charge after the Prosus acquisition was finalized in late 2025. Just Eat Takeaway operates in the UK, Netherlands, Germany, and several other European markets; Bloisi has noted that integration efforts will emphasize product development, customer experience, and innovation in those areas.
This strategy update comes on the heels of Prosus's recent divestment of 4.5% of Delivery Hero to Uber, fulfilling regulatory obligations set by the European Commission following the August 2025 approval of the Just Eat deal. Prosus indicated that Just Eat's primary European markets—especially Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK—are expected to contribute most significantly to the $3.6 billion goal. Smaller markets in southern and eastern Europe are viewed more as growth prospects than immediate revenue sources, with the company holding the option to divest assets if consolidation efforts stall.
The update from Cape Town was part of a broader strategy presentation that also addressed the company’s edtech, payments, and classifieds portfolios. Group revenue from consolidated e-commerce ventures reached €6.2 billion in the most recent fiscal year, with food delivery being the largest contributor. CEO Fabricio Bloisi remarked that the integration is yielding operational improvements. "We are focused on transforming Just Eat into a category-defining European platform," Bloisi stated. "The combination of consolidated purchasing power, extensive operational expertise, and a unified technology framework across markets is what will facilitate the next phase." Prosus has not provided a timeline for achieving the $3.6 billion target or a 2026 capex guide for the business.
The target serves as an important benchmark. Just Eat Takeaway reported around €5 billion in group gross merchandise value in 2024, with revenue significantly lower under its previous independent ownership. The $3.6 billion goal falls within the range analysts have used to forecast the integrated business, leaning towards the higher end of consensus estimates. Prosus also mentioned its ongoing assessment of selective M&A opportunities in the European delivery and related technology sectors, though specific transactions were not identified. The company currently has approximately $19 billion in available cash and from prior divestments to invest.
Following the announcement, shares in Prosus saw a modest increase in Amsterdam.
