A foldable Logitech mouse could be an ideal accessory for digital nomads.

The trend of foldable devices has expanded to phones and laptops, and it seems Logitech is looking to apply it to PC accessories. As per leaked marketing images shared by WinFuture, the company is developing a compact wireless mouse that closes like a small clamshell.

Is this Logitech’s response to Microsoft’s Arc Mouse?

The mouse seems to take direct inspiration from Microsoft’s Surface Arc mouse, which was released in 2017. While Microsoft’s version could lay flat for easier storage, the leaked design from Logitech reportedly folds inward like a tiny clamshell. This feature could enhance its portability, making it simpler to fit into a laptop bag or pocket.

Logitech also appears to be removing the conventional scroll wheel to maintain a slim profile. Instead, the leaked images showcase a touch-sensitive strip situated between the left and right buttons. WinFuture has dubbed this feature “Adaptive Touch Scrolling,” which is intended to replicate scroll wheel functionality through swiping motions.

Could a foldable mouse actually be practical?

The primary advantage of this mouse is its portability, which is crucial for many digital nomads and professionals who often travel for work. While laptop trackpads are adequate for quick tasks, many users still prefer a standard mouse for extended sessions. A foldable design may strike a balance by being more comfortable than a trackpad while remaining compact.

The leaked mouse is also expected to support Bluetooth connectivity with up to three devices and will feature an ambidextrous design suitable for both left- and right-handed users. Important specifications, such as DPI, battery life, price, and launch date, remain undisclosed. However, with marketing details already emerging, an official release might not be too far off.
