"A large battery, vibrant display, and polished software make the OnePlus 15R an excellent Android phone, but its price doesn’t significantly undercut its more robust counterpart to be considered a real bargain."

- Large battery
- High-quality display
- Polished software
- Sturdy construction and display
**Cons**
- Could be priced lower
- Cameras lack inspiration
**Quick Insight**
If you were interested in the OnePlus 15 but prefer to spend less for a phone with a few selective downgrades, the OnePlus 15R appears to be the right choice for you. However, in a year when the best OnePlus phones have consistently impressed us, this mid-range model seems somewhat underwhelming at first glance.
At a base price of $699.99 (256GB storage; an extra $100 for 512GB), it is only $200 less than its heavily featured sibling, despite various downgrades. In fact, it's priced $100 more than the OnePlus 13R from just eight months ago, which actually outperformed the new model in several essential areas.
Nevertheless, after using the OnePlus 15R for a month, I found it to be a reliable Android device, though it may not achieve notable recognition in OnePlus history. It steers clear of the flashy features typically expected from flagship models, opting instead for specifications and qualities that truly benefit the average user.
For instance, the OnePlus 15R boasts the best battery life of any phone I've tested—by a significant margin. It also has a robust build and an impressive large screen. Additionally, rather than overwhelming users with questionable AI software features, OxygenOS offers well-considered tools that enhance navigation and organization.

The charging speed and processing capabilities are commendable, though not at the level of OnePlus’ flagship models. The camera setup, however, indicates that the OnePlus 15R is not a premium device; it lacks certain hardware components found in the brand’s other phones. It would be much easier to recommend if it presented a stronger value compared to the slightly older OnePlus 13 series or even its premium versions; I can’t help but think it’s about $100 more than it should be. However, if you can find it at a discount during sales, it would be worth considering.

**OnePlus 15R Design Is Functional but Not Eye-Catching**
**Quick Take**: Although it's a durable phone, the OnePlus 15R isn't exactly visually striking.
If you were disappointed by the nondescript design of the OnePlus 15 compared to its predecessor, the R model won't change your mind. It mimics its sibling's subtle—some might call it dull—design: flat edges, a camera bump on the top left, and a plain back. While I share the sentiment about the uninspired design prevailing in the Android market, this understated look fits a mid-range device.
The phone is slightly larger than the 15, protruding a bit more and weighing a bit more, but this contributes to the expansive screen.
Despite its plain appearance, the OnePlus 15R features one of the company’s design innovations: the Plus Key. This button can be customized for various functions with a press and hold; I set it to launch the camera app, but it can also turn on the flashlight, activate Do Not Disturb, open the Recorder app, take screenshots, and more. It took time to get used to, but became genuinely useful over time. It also functions as a shutter button for the camera app, though its placement isn't particularly advantageous for that purpose.

In the review images, you can observe the Charcoal Black version of the device. The Mint Breeze color variant is also available in select regions.
Thanks to a variety of protective certifications, the OnePlus 15R is a robust device. It holds multiple IP ratings—IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K (despite some being incremental improvements).
