Lenovo and Motorola introduce Qira, an AI assistant designed to handle a wide range of tasks.
Qira is a cross-device AI assistant designed for PCs and phones that places AI at the forefront.
In early 2025, Motorola announced its AI bundle, which included a collection of proactive features powered by AI, utilizing a combination of Perplexity, Gemini, and Meta’s open-source models specifically for smartphones. This bundle provided various benefits such as on-screen guidance, voice assistance, enhanced search capabilities, and more. At CES 2026, Motorola revealed an enhanced version of this stack, which will also be incorporated into Lenovo PCs.
The overall concept
Introducing Lenovo Qira and Motorola Qira. The companies describe it as a unified, built-in cross-device intelligence. Qira's primary aim is to position an AI assistant at the core of the device experience, enabling users to accomplish tasks without the need for dedicated apps while providing useful suggestions.
For instance, while you are working, Qira can present smart suggestions on your screen, similar to the Magic Cue feature found on Pixel phones. It also has the ability to autonomously manage tasks across connected devices. Importantly, Qira functions within a framework that allows it to execute specific tasks directly on the device, ensuring that no data or activity history leaves your phone or laptop.
One of Qira’s standout features is Next Move, a system designed to offer contextual suggestions based on current activities. For example, if you're browsing images of pizza, the AI could suggest actions like “look up recipes for homemade pizza” or “remember this.”
Additional features
Write For Me is available to assist users with text-related tasks, helping to correct errors or modify the tone of content. We also have Live Interactions, akin to Gemini Live, enabling users to hold a free-flowing conversation with the integrated AI regarding the content visible on the screen or what it detects through the camera.
In contrast, Apple addresses this under the Visual Intelligence label. The built-in Creator Zone on Lenovo PCs allows users to generate unlimited, on-device images using the Stability AI engine. Eventually, Qira will also integrate with services like Notion, Expedua, and Vrbo.
Qira utilizes various names for its AI functions, such as Catch Me Up, Pay Attention, Live Interaction, among others. Qira is set to be available on Lenovo computers in the first quarter of 2026 and will make its way to a select number of Motorola phones later this year.
