      This week at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Boston Dynamics is proudly presenting its impressive Atlas humanoid robot. Footage from the unveiling might just leave you in awe.

      The Massachusetts-based company has dedicated years to refining Atlas's agility and dexterity. With the advancements in AI technology in recent years, the robot's decision-making capabilities have also significantly improved.

      The newest version, featured in the video at the top of this article, showcases Atlas walking onto the stage in a remarkably natural, human-like manner.

      "We collaborated with our sister organization, the Robotics and AI Institute, to enhance natural walking for this performance, and I believe we've achieved something exceptional," stated Zachary Jackowski, Boston Dynamics' vice president and general manager of Atlas, who shared the stage with the robot.

      While Atlas's natural walking ability is commendable, the robot must accomplish much more to play a vital role in workplaces such as warehouses and factories. During the demonstration, Atlas exhibited a wide range of movements and fluidity with its body and three-fingered grippers, indicating that the robot may soon be ready for significant tasks.

      "Atlas has joints that can move 360 degrees," Jackowski remarked. "This allows Atlas to operate more efficiently than humans, especially in manufacturing settings where every second matters."

      Boston Dynamics also revealed plans for Atlas to assist in car assembly at a Hyundai-operated facility in the United States, supported by the tech company.

      The company has also teamed up with Google’s DeepMind AI research lab to enhance the robot's capabilities in processing information and making decisions.

      This week's performance stands in stark contrast to the 2017 event, where a much simpler version of Atlas walked on stage before stumbling and falling out of sight, eliciting laughter. But those laughs have faded.
