      Mitsubishi Motors Momentum 2030 Lineup

Mitsubishi is officially reentering the U.S. electric vehicle market—and this time, it's making a significant commitment. The company has confirmed the upcoming launch of a brand-new battery-electric SUV in North America beginning in summer 2026, which will be its first fully electric model in the region since the unusual i-MiEV was discontinued in 2017.

The new electric vehicle will be a compact crossover, and while Mitsubishi is keeping many specifics under wraps, we know it will be built on the same next-generation platform as the future Nissan Leaf. This means it will utilize the CMF-EV architecture, the same foundation used for the Nissan Ariya, which supports ranges of over 300 miles. Therefore, this won’t be an ordinary entry-level EV.

Developed in collaboration with Nissan, the new model will be manufactured in Japan and shipped to the U.S. There are no details yet regarding pricing, battery capacity, or even its name, but Mitsubishi has indicated that this EV is just the start. As part of its “Momentum 2030” initiative, the company intends to introduce a new or updated vehicle each year until the end of the decade, with four electric models set to launch by 2028. One of those may even be a pickup truck.

Mitsubishi aims to provide customers with “flexible powertrain options,” or, in simpler terms: “We’ll have something for everyone.” Whether you prefer electric, gas, or hybrid power, they plan to cater to all preferences.

This forthcoming electric vehicle will eventually join Mitsubishi’s existing U.S. lineup, which includes the Outlander, Outlander PHEV, Eclipse Cross, and Outlander Sport, helping the brand enhance its visibility in the electric vehicle market.

In summary, Mitsubishi is taking a serious approach to EVs, and if this new SUV meets expectations, it could elevate the brand back into your awareness.

Slate Unveils $20K Electric Truck That Transforms Into an SUV.

Slate Automotive, a new American EV startup, has introduced its first vehicle: a remarkably minimalist electric truck that converts into a five-seat SUV. Called the “Blank Slate,” the EV was unveiled this week, drawing attention for its adaptability and low price—starting at under $20,000 after federal tax incentives.

Unlike Tesla and Lucid, which began with high-end luxury models, Slate aims to flip the script: launch affordable and then expand. The core of the Slate Truck is a functional, two-seat electric pickup designed for simplicity and cost-effectiveness. However, what makes it stand out is its ability to transform. Through a modular accessory system, the truck can be enhanced over time, including a kit that adds a rear seat, roll cage, airbags, and SUV body panels. This allows buyers to start with a basic pickup and gradually upgrade it into a family-friendly SUV—either independently or through Slate’s expanding service network.

Customization is key to Slate’s mission. At launch, owners can choose from over 100 accessories, including vinyl wraps and Bluetooth audio systems, large battery packs, and off-road enhancements. The company promotes a DIY ethos, offering tools and tutorials through “Slate University” to empower users in modifying and maintaining their vehicles.

The truck is powered by a 52.7-kWh battery for a range of up to 150 miles, with an optional 84.3-kWh pack targeting 240 miles. Fast-charging capabilities and Tesla’s NACS port are standard. The vehicle features rear-wheel drive and approximately 200 horsepower—adequate for city commuting and light-duty hauling.

The low price point is achieved through Slate’s simplified manufacturing approach. There’s no paint shop, no stamping, and only one trim level—everything else is modular. It includes steel wheels, manual windows, and a durable plastic body designed for resilience and aesthetic appeal, presenting a counterpoint to the tech-heavy, high-cost vehicles prevalent in today’s market.

Despite its basic specifications, Slate prioritizes safety. The truck is engineered for high crash test ratings and is equipped with up to eight airbags, active emergency braking, and forward collision warning. Significant investor support backs this ambitious initiative, including Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos. This financial backing, combined with a streamlined production model, positions Slate for rapid
