Shazam now displays the fastest growing songs globally, and Apple Music receives this information directly.

Shazam has just revealed its new Viral Chart, which features the songs that users of the service search for the most.

As a music recognition application, Shazam is widely utilized by individuals to identify tracks playing around them. This provides a great way to gather data on what’s currently popular.

Now, Shazam is sharing this information with a daily-updated Viral Chart.

Since Apple acquired Shazam seven years ago, this data is also being used to generate a playlist on Apple Music.

The Viral Chart will display the top 50 songs discovered by Shazam users within the last 24 hours.

What’s unique about this chart is that it doesn’t just reflect social popularity but also highlights songs gaining traction on a larger scale, encompassing on-demand streaming, traditional media, and major events – all in one place to showcase what’s trending.

For instance, at the time of writing, a popular track comes from the newly released film, F1 The Movie, illustrating how various media can play a role in promoting new songs.

How does the Shazam Viral Chart function?

Users can visit the Shazam Viral Chart to listen to a preview of each track on the list. By tapping play, they can hear a short clip before moving on to the next song.

Shazam also categorizes this information into several other charts. The main global chart highlights the top 50 tracks worldwide, and there are also 42 national charts available, each listing the top 25 ranked songs.

Apple Music features this global top 50 and integrates it into a Shazam playlist that updates daily directly from the Shazam Viral Chart.

Apple issued a statement regarding the new playlist, stating:

“Forget everything you thought you knew about viral music. Shazam’s new Viral Chart playlist doesn’t just track TikTok hits—it captures the full spectrum of songs gaining popularity right now, whether through streaming, social media, TV placements, or even that random 2004 hit suddenly making a comeback at bars and baseball games. You’ll discover today’s fastest-growing sounds from around the globe, identified by millions of eager listeners quickly using the Shazam feature. Check back daily for updates.”

Owners of the Pixel 9 and 8a will soon enjoy a useful battery feature in Android 16.

Google has hinted at a dedicated Battery Health menu since the launch of Android 14 QPR2 Beta 2 more than two years ago, and now the feature is being rolled out to select users with Android 16 Beta 3. This is excellent news, but only for those with the latest Pixel models. The feature will only be available for the Pixel 9 series and the Pixel 8a; even the recently released Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are not included.

Google confirmed this in an issue tracker, stating: "The Battery Health Indicator feature is currently only supported in Beta 3 on Pixel 8a and Pixel 9 products, including the 9 Pro Fold. Due to product limitations, this feature will not be accessible on older Pixel devices."

In the seven years since CEO Richard Yu's widely discussed keynote at CES 2018, Huawei has experienced significant challenges that would test any brand. At the peak of its global fame, Huawei was added to the US Entities list, which limited its access to top processors and technology.

These restrictions compelled Huawei to quickly seek alternative solutions, many of which lie in HarmonyOS, an operating system the company has developed for years, now powering various wearables, tablets, and IoT products.

I am preparing for my first visit to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in June as a chaperone for my daughter's class trip. This journey has been in the works for nearly two years, and to prepare, I've been focusing on learning German. I must admit that I was somewhat apprehensive at the start. Like many Americans, I didn’t attempt to learn a second language until middle school, and that language was Spanish. After taking classes for about five years, I’ve only grasped the basics.

This time, however, I’m taking a different route by using language learning apps, just like millions of others do instead of relying on traditional classroom settings.
