Nvidia's forthcoming budget GPUs may not meet gamers' expectations.

Nvidia has not yet confirmed the presence of entry-level GPUs in its new RTX 50 series. Nonetheless, recent leaks have disclosed expected specifications for the upcoming RTX 5050, RTX 5060, and RTX 5060 Ti. These graphics cards are anticipated to be officially revealed soon, as last week's reports indicated Nvidia's plans to introduce more RTL 50 series models in the next 10 days.

In terms of the leaked details, the well-known leaker @kopite7kimi has provided significant information regarding the forthcoming GPUs. According to his posts on X, both the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti will feature the GB206-300 GPU die, while the RTX 5050 will be based on the GB207-300 chip. The RTX 5060 Ti, expected to be the more powerful option among the two 60-class models, is projected to house 4,608 CUDA cores, which is only a modest 5.7% increase compared to its predecessor, the RTX 4060 Ti.

The GPU will be available in two memory configurations: 8GB and 16GB of GDDR7, both utilizing a 128-bit memory bus with a total power consumption (TDP) of 180W. The 16GB model is expected to launch first, becoming available by the end of March, while the 8GB variant will follow in April alongside the RTX 5060.

The RTX 5060 will come exclusively in a single 8GB GDDR7 version, still utilizing the same 128-bit memory bus. It will contain 3,840 CUDA cores, representing a significant 22.22% increase over the RTX 4060. With a TDP of 150W, this GPU is anticipated to be an excellent selection for compact PC builds.

With the RTX 5050, Nvidia makes a comeback in the 50-class GPU segment, last represented by the RTX 3050. The RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti will take advantage of a 128-bit memory interface and a bandwidth of 448 GB/s—around 55% higher than the RTX 4060 Ti—while the RTX 5050 will retain GDDR6 memory. It is projected to employ the PG152-SKU10/15 board with a GB206-300-A1 GPU die, offering 2,560 CUDA cores and a TDP of 130W.

The RTX 50 series, which includes the RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti, and 5070, has had a slow start mainly due to availability issues and inflated pricing. Concerns have also been raised about the flagship RTX 5090's incompatibility with older 12VHPWR power connectors, resulting in reports of cables and adapters melting under high power loads. Additionally, Nvidia is encountering problems with some RTX 50 graphics cards displaying missing ROPs (Render Output Units), which leads to reduced overall performance.

Nvidia's RTX 5070 Ti is just days away from launch. Scheduled for February 20, this GPU represents the onset of Nvidia's mainstream RTX 50-series. With specifications similar to the RTX 5080, the RTX 5070 Ti has the potential to be among the top graphics cards, but it also faces several challenges that could impact its success.

Recent leaked benchmarks provide an insight into the expected performance of the card, yielding mixed results. There are reasons to believe that the RTX 5070 Ti may encounter hurdles at launch but still has a chance to overshadow the RTX 5080.

According to recent submissions to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) by the prominent GPU manufacturer Zotac, new additions to Nvidia's RTX 50-series lineup, namely the RTX 5050, RTX 5060, and RTX 5060 Ti, have been unveiled. These registrations suggest Nvidia is preparing to roll out budget-friendly options within its latest GPU series.

The RTX 5050 is especially significant, indicating Nvidia's potential return to the sub-$250 GPU market—a space it hasn't actively pursued since the RTX 3050. The absence of a 50-class GPU in the RTX 40-series left an opening filled by older RTX 30-series GPUs and rival offerings. The launch of the RTX 5050 could open up an economical entry point for gamers wanting to utilize Nvidia's latest technology without a significant financial commitment.

AMD's upcoming Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT graphics cards are set to release on March 6, according to certain retail listings. Based on AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture, these new GPUs are scheduled to launch just weeks after Nvidia's RTX 5070 Ti and possibly before the RTX 5070, paving the way for an intense mid-range GPU competition.
