Keanu Reeves' comic series BRZRKR is making progress toward a live-action adaptation. Netflix has selected director Justin Lin to helm the film, which will be penned by Mattson Tomlin, who co-wrote The Batman Part 2. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Reeves is still set to star in the project and will produce alongside Boom! Studios, Company Films, and Lin's Perfect Storm production company. Lin has been involved with the Fast and Furious franchise since 2006, directing five of the ten films released so far. He was also set to direct the sixth installment, Fast X, before leaving due to creative differences with lead actor Vin Diesel. Additionally, Lin has directed Star Trek Beyond and the upcoming indie film, Last Days, which received partial funding from Reeves.

Reeves created the BRZRKR comic and co-wrote the series, which was further developed by writer Matt Kindt and artist Ron Garney. The comic's main character, resembling Reeves, is an immortal warrior named B, who has existed for 80,000 years. B is a half-human, half-god being cursed with an insatiable urge for violence. In contemporary times, B works with the U.S. government to confront dangerous situations while seeking answers about his origins and a way to alleviate his endless suffering.

The BRZRKR comic has been one of the top-selling titles in recent years, with over 600,000 copies of the first issue sold, primarily due to its association with Reeves. Through additional comics and reprints, Boom! Studios has reportedly distributed over 3.5 million copies of the story internationally. Tomlin is also developing a BRZRKR anime series, which is currently in production. It remains uncertain whether the BRZRKR film and the anime will be interconnected or if they will represent separate adaptations of the same narrative.
