3 must-watch Hulu movies to stream this weekend (March 7-9)
Hulu may remove most of its top movies at the start of the month, but it consistently adds a selection of new films each week, even if the platform doesn't always promote these updates effectively. For instance, Babylon is set to premiere on Hulu on March 8, yet the service hasn’t created a page for the film yet. Nonetheless, this overlooked treasure is one of our selections for three fantastic Hulu movies that you should watch this weekend.
Our other two selections include a compelling drama nearing its 20th anniversary and a comedy that flew under the radar, despite its nostalgic references that enhance its humor.
Looking for additional suggestions? We also have recommendations for the best films available on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Max, and Disney+.
**Babylon (2022)**
*Paramount Pictures*
Viewers had mixed reactions to Damien Chazelle’s Babylon, which reflects nearly a century of Hollywood history. Margot Robbie stars as an aspiring actress, Nellie LaRoy, while Brad Pitt plays the aging star Jack Conrad. However, much of the film focuses on Diego Calva’s Manny Torres, a young man eager to break into the industry.
Manny's ambition pales in comparison to Nellie, who craves the glamorous life of a star, complete with the accompanying excesses of drugs and alcohol. As the film industry shifts from silent to sound, Nellie appears to find her path to success, while Jack struggles to save his declining career. However, not all characters receive a happy ending in this tale of Hollywood.

**Notes on a Scandal (2006)**
*Searchlight Pictures*
Notes on a Scandal features Judi Dench in a substantial role as Barbara Covett, a teacher with few friends and no one to love. This solitude makes her particularly drawn to the school’s new teacher, Sheba Hart (Cate Blanchett), who is married to a significantly older man, Richard (Bill Nighy).
When Barbara learns that Sheba is having an affair with a schoolboy, Steve Connolly (Andrew Simpson), she advises her to end it. However, Barbara chooses to use this knowledge to her advantage, demonstrating her willingness to manipulate Sheba's situation to achieve her own goals.

**The Gutter (2022)**
*Magnolia Pictures*
If you've enjoyed the Farrelly brothers' classic comedies like Kingpin, Dumb and Dumber, and There’s Something About Mary, then you’ll appreciate the exaggerated comedic style of The Gutter. Brothers Isaiah and Yassir Lester embrace the funniest absurd moments, often eliciting laughter.
Shameik Moore, from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, stars as Walt, a down-and-out character who finally finds his place among the eccentric patrons of a local bowling alley. When a building inspector (Adam Brody) threatens to shut down the alley, one of the regulars, Skunk (D’Arcy Carden), decides to coach Walt as he discovers his unexpected talent for competitive bowling. In a nod to Kingpin, Susan Sarandon steps into the role reminiscent of Bill Murray, playing Linda Curson, a fierce bowler obstructing Walt and Skunk's aspirations for victory.
