Leaks regarding the Honor Magic V4 camera suggest it could set new standards for foldable devices.

If this latest leak is accurate, the soon-to-be-released Honor Magic V4 could feature one of the finest cameras seen in a foldable smartphone. As a successor to the Magic V3, the official specifications for the Magic V4 have yet to be announced, but a leaker has revealed what we can anticipate from the new device, including a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. This could position it at the top of the list for the best foldable phones.
According to information shared by Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Honor Magic V4 may come with an impressive array of specifications, but let’s focus on the camera for now. The leaker hints that the phone will include a 50MP 1/1.5″ primary sensor alongside a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, which will feature a 1/1.4″ type sensor and remarkable 3x optical zoom.
Having such a camera in a foldable device could enable the Honor Magic V4 to outshine its competitors, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is equipped with only a 10MP telephoto lens. The Oppo Find N5 would also be left behind, as it features a 50MP periscope telephoto camera.
The Honor Magic V3, which was launched as the world’s slimmest foldable, lost that title to the Oppo Find N5 shortly after its release. Nonetheless, despite the impressive camera configuration, the new V4 may be even more slender, with the leaker suggesting it will measure under 9mm when folded. For reference, the V3 is 9.2mm thick when folded. The image above effectively showcases just how thin the V3 was compared to its competitors.
In addition to its size and camera capabilities, the Honor Magic V4 is rumored to feature an 8-inch 2K 120Hz inner display along with a 6.45″ 120Hz outer display. Discussions suggest that the new phone will operate on the Snapdragon 8 Elite system-on-a-chip (SoC).
These specs sound promising, indicating that the foldable phone market is about to get more competitive. The Honor Magic V4 is expected to be unveiled this summer, with leaks suggesting June as the probable release timeframe.
