Forget the leaks; GTA 6 is pushing the boundaries of realism even more than Red Dead Redemption 2 did.
Prepare to stay fit in-game as well now.
Lucia is one of the main characters in GTA 6.
Rockstar (along with the major leakster) has provided us with a glimpse of what to anticipate from one of the biggest launches in gaming. We've witnessed the stunning beaches and bustling nightclubs in GTA 6. However, beyond the flashy aspects, the finer details are equally significant. In a recent in-depth article from Dazed, Rockstar has shed light on some of the systems that define Jason and Lucia's lives in Leonida. Their diet can influence their weight, while exercising can visibly build and tone their muscles. If they stay away from rest for too long while evading the police or partying nonstop, their exhaustion will become apparent on their faces.
Although this may seem very immersive, some of these features have been seen in previous GTA games. What's different now is Rockstar's dedication to detail. Red Dead Redemption was renowned for its tiny details scattered throughout the world. This deep dive suggests that this meticulousness is making its way into Vice City; this time, it's within a next-gen title focused on contemporary criminals.

Your body remembers your actions.
If this sounds familiar, GTA San Andreas allowed CJ to gain weight and muscle based on his diet and exercise, while Red Dead Redemption 2 featured Arthur Morgan who could gain or lose weight, grow hair, develop bruises, get dirty, and visibly suffer if neglected. This appears to be an expansion of those mechanics and concepts. Jason and Lucia are not meant to be blank canvases. Rockstar aims for players to shape them while preserving their personalities, and their relationship is a part of that.
Dazed describes the ability to operate as a couple or individually. In one example, you can drive as Jason while Lucia is next to you browsing GTA 6’s active social feeds. When a chase inevitably unfolds, the system allows you to shift between driving and shooting at pursuers from the passenger seat.

Vice City is observing you.
A significant aspect of immersion lies in how the world reacts to your actions. Casually strolling down the street with a rifle can elicit a response from the city. NPCs are not just background fillers that populate the game map; Rockstar has built one of its most diverse character populations yet across different neighborhoods. These characters can exhibit a range of lifestyles, ages, body types, clothing styles, and more.
To achieve this level of realism in NPCs, Rockstar’s team has reportedly spent years researching Miami and its surroundings. They’ve consulted with former criminals, law enforcement, club promoters, and local residents to create characters rooted in something more profound than the typical “Florida Man” stereotype. Red Dead Redemption 2 demonstrated how powerful a multitude of seemingly trivial systems can become when they all align in the same direction.
