The Blood of Dawnwalker won’t put a strain on your old gaming PC, but your PS5 could face some difficulties.
The forthcoming RPG is designed to function on older GPUs, though console players are limited to 40fps, even with the PS5 Pro.
The Blood of Dawnwalker, an upcoming dark-fantasy action RPG from Rebel Wolves, is becoming increasingly ambitious. Founded by veterans of CD Projekt Red, the studio has garnered attention for its stunning visuals, expansive open-world design, and choice-driven gameplay. We now have insight into the hardware requirements to support these appealing graphics.
Your older GPU may just manage this game
The PC requirements are surprisingly manageable. The minimum specifications require only a GTX 1060 or RX 580, along with 16GB of RAM, while the recommended specifications feature an RTX 4060, RX 7600 XT, or Intel Arc B580. This is far less daunting compared to the GPU requirements frequently seen with many recent AAA games.
However, there is a caveat: these specifications assume upscaling at the Balanced setting, utilizing technologies like DLSS, FSR, or XeSS. Though this is becoming more common, it's important to keep this in mind when evaluating those requirements. Nevertheless, the fact that a GTX 1060 or RX 580 suffices for the game's base-level 1080p/30fps target is promising. Since these GPUs predate the latest generation of AI-driven upscaling, the game should afford ample room for older hardware at native resolutions if expectations remain realistic.
Consoles, on the other hand, are limited to 40fps
Console players have two modes available: Quality targets dynamic 4K at 30fps, and Balanced targets dynamic 4K at 40fps on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X. The PS5 Pro offers improved visual quality, yet it does not reach a higher frame-rate target.
A 30fps quality mode is not particularly surprising for a visually ambitious current-generation RPG, as we've seen numerous examples. However, the absence of a 60fps mode on the PS5 Pro is disappointing, especially since the more powerful console cannot exceed 40fps. While a 40fps mode is certainly better than 30fps, players accustomed to 60fps might find this limitation a bit unsatisfactory.
Nonetheless, The Blood of Dawnwalker is shaping up to be a promising RPG, joining the list of games that excite us, and the gameplay glimpsed so far looks impressive. Rebel Wolves also possesses notable experience in the industry. If the studio can effectively merge its visuals and systems with sound optimization, this could be one of those games where the technical trade-offs appear more justified once players have the controller in their hands.

Riot is concluding the development of 2XKO less than a year after its launch.
Riot Games will cease active development of 2XKO, its ambitious League of Legends fighting game, in December 2026. This decision comes less than a year post-launch, as Riot has noted insufficient player retention to place the game on a sustainable trajectory. Importantly, 2XKO will not be shut down; its servers will remain operational, allowing the game to continue being playable.
