A brand new pair of glasses priced at $399 can transform your handheld device into a 307-inch gaming configuration.
RayNeo has recently released a range of new smart glasses that aim to bring the cinema experience closer to users. The RayNeo GT and GT Max AR glasses will be available for purchase on September 4, priced at $299 and $399 respectively, catering to those seeking a large private screen for gaming, movies, and travel without the bulkiness of a television.
Both variants feature dual 1080p Micro-OLED displays with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, along with specialized processing for display improvements and spatial tracking. The $399 GT Max model offers an expansive 59-degree field of view, simulating virtual screen sizes of 227, 267, and 307 inches. In contrast, the $299 GT model has a narrower 46-degree field of view, providing virtual screen sizes of 136, 201, and 231 inches.
The company employs its Vision 4000 display chip, developed in collaboration with Pixelworks, to ensure dynamic contrast, accurate white balance, and real-time AI SDR-to-HDR processing. Additionally, a separate Zone 360 3DoF chip is responsible for spatial tracking directly within the glasses. The devices offer a Steady Mode to stabilize images during movement, a Pinned Mode to hold the virtual display in place, and a Follow Mode that allows for more natural movement in sync with the user's head.
By connecting a device like a Steam Deck or a compatible gaming handheld to these glasses, the smaller seven- or eight-inch screen becomes less significant. Both models are equipped with quad speakers tuned by Bang & Olufsen, along with a directional Whisper Mode that claims to reduce sound leakage by 80%. The displays can reach up to 1,200 nits of brightness and utilize 3,840Hz PWM dimming.
Opting for the more advanced model costs an additional $100. The differences extend beyond virtual screen size; the standard GT weighs 68 grams and uses a traditional Birdbath optical system, while the GT Max weighs 78 grams and comes in three physical IPD sizes to better match the optics to different users' eyes.
RayNeo is also highlighting support for Dolby Vision playback, albeit with a caveat: utilizing native Dolby Vision necessitates the new Pocket TV Pro accessory, the price of which has not yet been announced. This accessory is specifically designed for the RayNeo glasses rather than other AR eyewear.
The base price of $299 is particularly noteworthy, especially considering that Xreal recently launched its a01+ model in the U.S. at the same price point. The highly-rated Xreal One, known for its stable spatial display, has a retail price of $499. As a result, RayNeo is introducing the GT Max into an area of the market where $399 offers some impressively advanced technology.
RayNeo’s latest iO Smart Glasses incorporate a small display within your line of sight. Retailing at $479, these glasses provide live translation, dictation in 112 languages, and an AI memory log that adapts to your daily routines, offering personalized summaries.
RayNeo has introduced a new pair of smart glasses intended to minimize the frequency of phone checks. The iO Smart Glasses feature a small MicroLED display positioned in the upper corner of your vision, enabling you to view notifications, your schedule, and other quick information without needing to reach for your smartphone.
Sennheiser has launched earbuds that don’t need to be discarded when the battery dies. Their new Momentum True Wireless 5 earbuds combine the best features of their full-sized Momentum 5 Wireless headphones into a smaller, more comfortable design. These earbuds will start shipping on September 3rd, priced at $299.95.
