A new pair of glasses priced at $399 can transform your handheld device into a 307-inch gaming setup.

      RayNeo has recently launched a range of new smart glasses that aim to deliver a theater-like experience right in front of you. The RayNeo GT and GT Max AR glasses will be available for purchase starting September 4 at prices of $299 and $399, respectively, targeting users seeking a large private screen for gaming, movies, and travel without needing to carry a bulky television.

      Both versions feature dual 1080p Micro-OLED displays that operate at up to 120Hz, coupled with dedicated processing for display improvements and spatial tracking. The GT Max, priced at $399, boasts a 59-degree field of view, offering three virtual screen sizes equivalent to 227, 267, and 307 inches. In contrast, the $299 GT has a narrower 46-degree field of view with screen size options of 136, 201, and 231 inches.

      The company incorporates its Vision 4000 display chip, developed in partnership with Pixelworks, to achieve dynamic contrast, white balance, and real-time AI SDR-to-HDR processing. Additionally, a dedicated Zone 360 3DoF chip provides spatial tracking directly on the glasses. Steady Mode stabilizes the image while in motion on a plane or train; Pinned Mode fixes the virtual display in space, while Follow Mode allows it to track head movements more organically.

      By connecting devices like a Steam Deck or compatible gaming handheld to these glasses, the importance of the smaller seven- or eight-inch screens in your hands diminishes significantly. RayNeo also outfits both models with Bang & Olufsen-tuned quad speakers and a directional Whisper Mode that reportedly minimizes sound leakage by 80%. The displays can reach brightness levels of up to 1,200 nits and support 3,840Hz PWM dimming.

      For an additional $100, you can upgrade to the more advanced model.

      The differences between the two versions extend beyond virtual screen size. The standard GT weighs 68 grams and utilizes a conventional Birdbath optical system. The GT Max, on the other hand, weighs 78 grams and is offered in three physical IPD sizes to better align the optics with various users’ eyes.

      RayNeo is also highlighting the support for Dolby Vision playback, but there's a significant caveat. Native Dolby Vision playback requires the new Pocket TV Pro accessory, which RayNeo has not yet priced, and this accessory is specifically designed for use with RayNeo glasses, not with competing AR eyewear.

      The $299 price point is particularly compelling as Xreal has recently introduced its a01+ in the U.S. for the same cost. Meanwhile, the Xreal One, which received high ratings for its stable spatial display, is priced at $499. Thus, RayNeo's introduction of the GT Max into the market offers ambitious hardware for $399.
