Fire TV users can now find what they want by describing it, ask follow-up questions, and control smart home devices using Alexa Plus.
Amazon has provided a significant AI enhancement for Fire TV users. Alexa+ is now being rolled out at no additional charge to compatible Fire TV devices throughout the U.S., which includes the latest Fire TV Sticks, Fire TV Cube, Amazon Ember TVs, and supported models from brands like Hisense and Panasonic.
There's no need for a subscription, no app to download, and no Prime membership is required. Eligible devices will receive the upgrade automatically.
So, what changes can you expect on your Fire TV?
The most notable improvement is in the search functionality. Traditional Alexa depended more on specific titles and keywords. With Alexa+, you can make conversational requests and ask follow-up questions. For example, you can request a highly rated thriller and then refine your search to find something newer or featuring a female lead without starting over.
Amazon reports that users of Alexa+ on Fire TV are engaging in nearly twice the number of conversations compared to the original Alexa. Additionally, it claims that users are selecting Alexa's top movie recommendations over 40% more frequently. Alexa+ allows you to switch Prime Video playback between Fire TV devices with a voice command, respond to follow-up inquiries about actors or shows, and provide information without needing to reach for your phone.
Now, your TV can do more than just find movies.
The upgrade also expands Fire TV's capabilities in the smart home space. You can ask Alexa+ to display a Ring camera feed, dim compatible lights, lock a connected door, check sports scores, set timers, or answer general questions while watching TV.
There is still a subscription option available. A Prime membership or Alexa+ Standard subscription unlocks Alexa+ on compatible Echo devices and adds features like Alexa Routines, specific Ring camera highlights, and advanced Home Modes on Fire TV.
However, the primary upgrade is free, and for those already using voice search on Fire TV, the ability to converse with Alexa instead of carefully articulating every request may prove to be the most beneficial change.

Supreme has placed its box logo on JBL’s compact speakers because just red wasn’t enough.
Supreme’s JBL Go 5 collaboration may be the most unsurprising red gadget ever.
Apparently, Supreme looked at JBL’s red Go series speakers and felt they weren’t red enough in the right way. The streetwear brand has unveiled a special edition of the JBL Go 5 as part of its Fall/Winter 2026 collection. It comes in Supreme's signature red, featuring a large white Supreme logo on the front. There are also white controls on top and JBL branding integrated into the lanyard. JBL already offers the standard Go 5 in red, so this collaboration doesn't introduce any significant changes.
