      More M5 MacBook Air and Pro models are now accessible via Apple’s refurbished store.

      Apple has introduced numerous new configurations of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro in its Certified Refurbished Store, along with additional iPhone 16 Plus models and Apple Watches.

      The timing of the new MacBook Air models is particularly beneficial. Current supply for new M5 MacBook Air models is limited within Apple’s retail network, with some configurations projected for delivery as late as August or September. Additionally, Apple increased MacBook Air prices in June, meaning students looking to buy before the new school year will face higher costs and potentially longer wait times.

      Refurbished MacBooks might alleviate the supply issue.

      The least expensive refurbished M5 MacBook Air we found earlier, a 13-inch version with 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage priced at $1,099, has already sold out. Apple’s refurbished stock updates quickly, so there’s no certainty it will remain available.

      Currently, the most affordable option is the larger 15-inch M5 MacBook Air, featuring 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage, which is priced at $1,269 refurbished, as opposed to $1,499 new, offering a savings of $230 to buyers.

      The least expensive refurbished 13-inch model available now has 16GB of memory and a 1TB SSD for $1,359, reduced from $1,599. Additionally, there’s a 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro with 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage for $1,699, down from $1,999.

      Apple refurbished products are generally a reliable option.

      Apple states that its certified refurbished items undergo functional testing and inspection, include the same one-year limited warranty, and come with a 14-day return policy, with the option to purchase AppleCare as well. Supplies are limited, and specific configurations can sell out rapidly.

      The iPhone 16 Plus is also noteworthy. Apple no longer offers the 512GB model new, making the refurbished store one of the few official avenues to still acquire that exact configuration.
