Jaguar presents a sneak peek of its fully electric Type 01.

      Jaguar has unveiled the initial interior images of the Type 01, the electric grand tourer set to bridge a two-year hiatus during which it ceased selling new vehicles in the UK. The car will be introduced in New York on October 6, following a delay from late 2025, with an anticipated price of around £100,000.

      The interior images of the Type 01 have been shared by Jaguar just two months ahead of its New York debut. A brass-finished spine extends through the cabin, dividing it into four distinct areas, featuring a low driving position and a streamlined dashboard. The company mentions that the color scheme is inspired by travertine stone.

      While the design language is significant, the car's capabilities take precedence. Jaguar halted new car sales in the UK in November 2024 and has effectively been absent from the market since, awaiting this model's arrival.

      The Type 01 is the production variant of the Type 00 concept that was revealed in December 2024. This concept was introduced alongside a rebranding effort and the “Copy Nothing” campaign, which faced criticism for not showcasing any vehicles. Managing director Rawdon Glover remarked at the time that the brand was "OK to be polarizing" and needed to stand out.

      The launch was intended to happen sooner. However, the timeline shifted from late 2025 to 2026 due to strategic realignment and production challenges, which coincided with a cyberattack that affected Jaguar Land Rover’s UK manufacturing facilities.

      This cyberattack was the costliest in British corporate history, with estimates suggesting it inflicted around £1.9bn in damage to the broader UK economy, while JLR reported a £196mn loss. This event also led to financial difficulties for parent company Tata Motors.

      Anticipation surrounding the vehicle is significant. Industry reports indicate a projected price near £100,000, with a tri-motor configuration nearing 1,000hp and a range exceeding 400 miles, built on a dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture exclusive to this brand. However, Jaguar has not confirmed any specific figures.

      What has been confirmed is the spectacle. A prototype made an appearance at Pebble Beach on August 16 in a new guise, with the full reveal set for New York on October 6, as a four-door GT that will compete with the Porsche Taycan and Mercedes EQS.

      The gap between ambition and execution has characterized Jaguar's trajectory. Jaguar Land Rover announced back in 2021 that Jaguar would transition to all-electric by 2025, with the first vehicle from that initiative reaching consumers in 2026.
